Found a vacuum leak on the plastic line that runs across the engine. Ordered a new line in the mean time wrapped it in a bunch of Tessa tape for the time being. I have way to much time on my hands now a days I just keep looking for stuff to fix. Ordered serpentine belt and tensioner/pulley set also today

I tried to replace the dreaded thrust/tension arm ball joint today on my XI. No luck. The only threads I have found where people are successful, they are using air hammer or blow torch. I have neither. This thread is exactly my issue. He solves it on page 3 with heat (blow torch).

I'd just order 15-20' of platinum cured line from:

https://www.verociousmotorsports.com...ld-by-the-Foot

Replace all of them. That one plastic line probably cost more than 20' of way better line (you can almost replace every single vacuum line with 20')!

Finally took the plunge and did intakes, chargepipes and downpipes once this rain stops... In May I'll be doing spacers, wheel stud conversion, and welding that MPE v1 bullshit. I'd like to get the AA mid pipe and lower it, but I live in the city and dont think I would survive even a half inch drop.

What's stupid is it goes from Rubber to plastic why not just keep it rubber the whole way. Who thought plastic was a good idea for a vacuum line on top of a hot engine!! Sorry for the venting.

If memory serves, I ordered 3.5mm ID from FCP and that worked well. Ordered 15' and had about 2' left over.

I've also never seen the corrugated plastic sleeve on the vac lines before. Maybe their supposed to be there and someone removed them, but they weren't on mine when I bought it.

EDIT:. Now that I think about it, I don't think I replaced the lines from the vac pump to the bottom of the canisters. I'll need to order some more, so you may be better off getting 20'.

Found this company and they have the cheapest silicone and they have 3.5 mm.
It’s the only I’ve found with reasonable shipping.

It's hard to go wrong with Platinum Cured Vacuum lines at about $1.00 a foot.

Remember, how hot the n54 gets

100% a vac line. Thought it was wire loom also and I kept moving the cluster of wires and the suction noise would go away so started inspecting each of them and found that and followed it on the turbo side and sure enough it's a plastic line that goes into a rubber hose right at the top on the valve cover.

First cleaning of the Spring - rained all day with thunderstorms in the afternoon that required the dogs to huddle close to protect me.

Then, sunshine and I got my opportunity.
