PnP harness is just another point of failure. No need for it at all.

That's how plug n play? If so then a wire shouldn't be connected

That's the NAVI + Reverse Cam emulator pic you have there. I've noticed a few seem to be purchasing the wrong emulator than wondering why there is no white wire.
of course it will still work but your navigation is probably already active as you have a CIC from factory.

The NAVI part (acts as a DCAN filter basically, to stop the iDrive requesting the car's real VIN from the CAS module to perform FSC checks)

So the NAVI version is only needed if you have just done a retrofit and no coding is needed to have navigation active.

if you have basic soldering skills just get the reverse cam emulator without the plug and play harness.

Hi,

I've got 2008 E91 335d with a retrofitted CIC system.

From what I've seen at the tail of this thread - if I get a "basic" emulator I'll lose nav, unless I go for the "navi" version? Is that correct?

I'm in the UK and can't see the "navi" version for sale anywhere except for this one on AliExpress - http://www.aliexpress.com/item/40001...chweb201603_53

Hopefully someone can advise what I should buy? Thanks.

No you wont lose nav. if your CIC is coded than their is no point getting NAVI version. If you want PNP harness go https://www.ebay.com/itm/RVC-PNP-Emu...U/274181573619

Edit: it's also possible that you already have a NAVI harness or do you know that's its been coded?

Hi,

Unfortunately I don’t know the specifics. I bought the car with the system retrofitted.

Is there an easy way to tell?

Thanks.

EDIT - unfortunately that seller does not ship to the UK.

Exactly. I've done two installs with the same emulator and camera and zero issues with either.

Coding was identical with or without PDC. Both units I've used are the autofocustech ones.

Much appreciated bro. I have got a lot of tips and trick to complete my project on my 2008 m3 and I got a sony chipped rear camera 1280x720 different than generic ones and it is mind blowing quality. And works like a charm, no delay or anything.

The great part is since the emulator is behind the ac controller, if it fails for any reason, that has a detachable socket so no need t reomove the CIC unit to fix it. Just replace with the other one right there

Additionally I ordered this one (3B7035447A) to install camera rca cable in to the quadlock so it fits like oem

Only one thing I wish I was able to code is deactivating the Park menu after disengaging from reverse.

Thank you again :

I finally got my hands on a Carsystems emulator that has the dynamic lines. BimmerTech is the only US distributor, I believe. $400 with the PnP harness and works fine with my $50 trunk handle cam, there are adjustments to make sure the lines work with the curb.

My White wire is not powering my camera idk why but I connected cam to reverse light. Now when I’m in reverse cam shows up on the screen but when I switch to D screen is black. Maybe someone gets power from pdc ? Which wire is it? Or maybe someone have another idea ?

Thats very normal, When u put ur shift back to neutral reverse light shuts off that means 12V is gone. And because of you are using emulator Parking Menu stays on.

On my case, Reverse camera is on after putting the Neutral or first gear and if I don't turn off from the parking button and turn off the car, Park Menu still On and camera turns to black cuz Camera only gets the 12V from Emulator when the ignition is ON.

So everytime I park my car to the garage, I either turn off the Park Menu by pressin the Parking button, or shut the car all the way and turns off the CIC all the way.

Additionally, Reverse light really not an ideal place to get the power since it doesnt provide 12V, it provides around 11.6V when the car is running.

And if you want 12V to run from the reverse light, you really need to use 4 pin automotive relay!

Hope it helps!
