Here are some pictures that I took tonight after the E90 got an alignment. I know "HOLY LENZ BLURR BATMAN!" but I'm just playing around with Photoshop..

Parker thanks for the offer to drive my car around for me. Let me think about it for awhile.

In other words...
No thanks, I'm good with it sitting in the garage until all conditions are perfect.

Sorry in advance about the newbie post, I didn't read all 53 pages to find these answers and we all know how well forum searches work...
I'm living in Layton and am seriously considering picking up a ~2008 328i, or 335i this summer. I need some reassurance about the local dealerships/community. Since we are too gheto up here in the Odgen area to have a BMW dealership the closest dealer is in Murray. Anybody have any comments on how reasonable Firmage has been with replacing extended warranty stuff? (specifically I am worried a bit about turbo/wastegates, and HPFP) Outside of the dealership anyone know of a good independent mechanic up north of SLC? How about someone local that knows their way around coding BMWs? Also how many of you locals make it out to Miller Motorsports park? At the very least I plan on taking the car out to a few Wide Open Wednesdays. |

Hello, welcome to the Chat Thread. There has been discussion about this topic quite often. Treatment at BMW of Murray can be hit or miss, depending on the person. Many here have had great luck, and have been treated fairly. I actually worked at Murray for five years and think they are a good company. I would recommend finding a 335i. If you are looking for any type of power, that is the way to go. I went 335i --> 330xi --> 335d and really had a hard time with the 330xi as it was just a loss in power. Drive both to see what fits your needs/wants. Unfortunately I live down in Lehi, so I dont have any recommendations for shops up North. Having tracked at MMP before, I say go for it. But go completely stock with some tires that are not new and enjoy your time. Plan on keeping your DSC on or partially on until you get used to the car and track. Hope that helps |

About the model I figure I would be fine with a 328i, and if it is a 328i it will absolutely have to have a manual transmission. I would of course rather have the power of the 335i, and I can live with the auto in a 335i, but all of the mechanical problems with the twin turbo are scaring me a bit. It doesn't help that a 328i with a manual is virtually the same cost as a 335i with an auto. If I do end up with a 335i I have no intention of upgrading the power output for the foreseeable future. I just see no need to take the chance on the car overheating when driving our wonderful canyons or at the track. Any engine mods will be to keep it cool/make it more reliable. (Although I suppose if eventually I have to put a JB4, or Cobb on it to keep the wastegates quiet so be it! ) I won't buy a car without the sport package, and given how much I drive my cars I will put a set of really sticky rubber underneath it. I'm also not a huge fan of big diameter bling wheels, so right now I'm dreaming about a set of 17 x 9.5-10.5" Apex wheels with a set of Bridgestone RE-11s or something else in the "autocross" class of tires. |
