Anyone want to show me the proper way of washing a car? I'm going to spend at least 4 hours on it tomorrow.

Normally I just wash wheels first, dump out bucket. Wash the car, and dry. Then I apply my Mother's Wax and wipe it off. No matter how many coats of wax I put on, I get the same reflection...=(

Should I Wax wheels last? And I should go buy some wheel polish huh? Any brands recommended? Thanks =D
I usually do the wheels last. Use Zaino wax. 2 coats of that and your paint is smooth as a baby's bottom

What kind of wheels do you have? Is it polished lip? I heard waxing the wheels isnt good. not sure on that

You wax the car everytime? You should try using zaino. Jackson uses it and it makes a huge difference.
+1, wash from top to wheels, dry are the same. no need to wax everytime, jackson use zaino very well.

andrew, no need to wait for my call by purpose, because i don't know if andy is really going or not.

after months, the polish lip will not as shiny as new, then you have to use some chemical stuff to wash it, or polish it.

Thanks guys. Alright, JUST TO CLARIFY one last time. I've already asked Andrew this early on in the day, but just to make sure I'm going to do it right.

WASH wheels with my regular car wash...including the polished lip.
Dry.
Then WAX with Microfiber towel.

I don't wax all the time...just for tomorrow I guess. =D

oh, i don't wipe... i use the wax buffer, that comes with terry cloth bra, i feel it's much better than wipe off with mircofiber, that's why i think terry cloth should be better. but it's just personal choice

All right, here's my process....it's not that hard....

1. Rinse wheels
2. Wash the rims with separate dedicated wheel cleaning pad
3. Rinse wheels
4. Empty bucket and refill with new soap and pull out my car washing mitt
5. Wash in sections. Starting with the top and working your way down. I do 4 sections. Side, rinse, rear, rinse, side, rinse, front, rinse.
6. Using a waffle weave M/F Towel, I dry the car
7. Wipe down the windows with a very slightly damp M/F towel
8. Open the doors and dry the door jams and all the little hard to reach places
9. Dry the wheels and wipe down tires
10. Tire shine if you feel like it

That's just the exterior. Takes about 1 - 2 hours depending how fast i'm doing it.

The interior is a whole other story and the engine bay is another one too.

I don't either..i wipe it down tho. It makes a world of a difference in keeping the engine bay clean. In the long run especially. When you decide to sell the car, it looks very presentable and it shows the detail.

Wow I thought I was alone taking a few hours to wash and wax the car. lol

It takes me about 1-2 hours to wash and dry the car and then another hour or two to wax it.
