Agreed! Hot Pot is one of the things I miss since moving from CA. I still get it at my in laws for Christmas when I go back.
Anyone who is near San Francisco, go to The Pots on Judah (if/when it opens). |

Pan seared steak with bulgur, tabbouleh and lemon confit.
For dessert, walnut lemon baklava. Blast this photo uploader. It's rubbish. |

Love me some baklava. Wifey makes killer baklava, but very, very rarely as I'm the only one who eats it and that is a bad thing.

This cookbook has some awesome meals. One of my favorites is their red bean/coconut rice/mango dish. But the book itself is worth reading just for the laughs. They pull no punches and speak their minds. I've laughed out loud just reading the recipe directions even though I don't do the cooking. https://www.amazon.com/Thug-Kitchen-...dp/1623363586/

Tried my best on these as I'm usually partial to the grill, but did a HOT pan sear in butter and chopped garlic followed with 5 minutes in the oven at 375.
Overall, I'm happy with the result, but I think I seared them a bit too long. Live and learn. |

One thing that I did learn to make myself is some low carb chocolate chip cake. Easiest thing I've ever made, basically throw egg, almond flour, baking powder and some coconut oil into a bowl, mix it all up, throw some dark chocolate chips in it. Microwave for 1:20 and you got "cake"! |

My Mom's side is from Slovakia, so this is practically a traditional meal on get-togethers. Its definitely an acquired taste, lol. I couldn't even stand the smell of it growing up, but can't get enough of it now. I think we put sauerkraut in ours, but not certain. |
