Just installed mine! Used the Autofocus tech harness and spliced into the original harness. Much easier to remove the plug from the quadlock, gives you more space to splice wires in.
Also,my camera has the mini connector but it was nowhere near long enough to be fed through the rubber trunk hose. I ended up cutting the long rca harness, fishing it, and re connected. Fishing was very easy, I used a long piece of metal coat hanger, with wiring taped at the front tip, with electrical tape, covering to make sure the coat hanger didn't rip anything. I sprayed some lithium grease on my fingers and rubbed it along the wire and coat hanger. Thanks to the instructions by the OP and Grzes' wiring diagram, as the "green" and "brown" wires on my emulator were orange with yellow and blue stripes. My emulator did come with the white wire, exactly like the OP's. I followed the instructions to the letter and everything worked perfectly. |

The play and play kit I had before was clearly wired up wrong. Unfortunately, I'm still having the same problem - I get the PDC noises, but no display on the screen at all - not even the standard PDC one. I think I need to get this back before I think about the reversing camera addon. I must have done something wrong on the coding side but I can't work it out? |

If you aewnt even getting the reverse pdc/camera display, I think something may be wrong with the coding.
You mentioned you're OT sure if you did fa write to both cas and nfrm, so maybe remove it from vo, fa write to cas and nfrm, then add it back and da write to them again? Then check the cic module coding. If still not working, maybe default code cic and re code again? If coding was done correctly, you should see the reverse screen w/ vertical pdc. |

Thanks. Removed $3AG and reset all modules, and PDC display was working properly. Added $3AG, reset all modules, PDC display still working correctly. Modified the options as discussed in the original post - only "MACRO_L6_PARKMENU" & "PDC_DIRECTION" needed to be changed, the rest were correct as default. PDC display not working. |

Hi,
Forgive me for asking a potentially really dumb question. I'm looking to do this retrofit and am looking at these two emulators for my car that has rear parking sensors: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Reversing-I...t/281474834192 https://www.ebay.com/itm/RVC-PNP-Emu...S/274262486573 The difference between these two seems that one of them has a harness and the other one has a bunch of wires that go somewhere. Does the harness option make the emulator easier to install in a plug and play sort of way? Thanks. |

I have used both and prefer the non-harness version. 4 wires need to be hooked to the car's wiring and one to the camera power. Some high-quality taps like PosiTaps work well.
The harness version makes the install slightly easier but this version does not appear to have the white wire to power the camera. Also, the harness can be challenging to tuck back in behind the CIC. |

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Reversing-I...t/281474834192 There is this other listing on eBay's uk site but costs almost twice as much: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Reverse-I...C/223913581451 Could you please help me pick one? I've got a 2010 320i business edition that came with a cic iDrive and rear parking censors. Thanks |

I ended up cutting the emulator off the PNP harness and its a easy to tap in 4 wires and pin in the 2 video pins. Your first link is fine. |

I have 2011 E91 328i xDrive Wagon with Manual Transmission. I'm using a cheap camera from one of the links to Amazon.
Do I wire power for rear view camera to the reverse light or the rear camera power from the interface unit? Not sure how the interface unit will know when to send power to the rear view camera on a manual transmission. Wiring diagrams attached. Also not sure why there are red 12v? wires coming out of the extended AV cable to reach to interface unit. |

Basically once the RCA cable is ran from the trunk to the connection behind the unit. The red wire on the rca is to make it easier for running the power from the emulators white wire to power the camera. Make sure you ground the camera's black wire though. I'm not 100% on how those micro cables are setup as i had the old type connection. But you will get the general idea. |

Found the manual at the link. They should have included it. The unit is capable of reading CAN to turn on reverse without need for wiring to reverse lights for power or signal. https://car-solutions.com/en/video-i...ng-guidelines/ So far CAN mode set via in screen menu is not working. DIP 7 set to Not Factory Camera (X1 has factory camera), and REAR power out from the unit is ran all the way to rear camera using dedicated wiring. EDIT: got it all working. My car is manual. CAN is not working, might need coding? So I run a wire from the reverse light to the Pin 7 (7 pin power connector) on the Car Solutions QPI-BM09. When power is detected at pin 7, the REAR-C (rear camera power) then sends 12V to power up the rear camera, and switches the screen to rear camera video input. Without CAN or the Pin 7 receiving DC 9-12v power, the Rear C won't send 12V out, instead it puts out like 20 mili-volts according to my testing. For reverse light trigger, I just jammed a wire into the OE connector ![]() Takes about 2 seconds for the video to appear once in reverse, engine running or not. Using the 12v out from RearC connector of the Car Solutions QPI-BM09 to power the reverse camera, there are no issues with interfere on video signal. Do you recommend any eBay emulator and camera for my E93(longer cable)? I have OEM CIC, so I only need camera emulator.
Possibly with dynamic lines, but not for 3x the price. |
