Shooting in Crop Mode, the file is 6240 X 4160, and this was cut down to 2430 X 2430 get rid of the excess sky. Full size is 9504 X 6636. So I threw about 75% of the image away to get this little guy and still retained quite a bit of detail
It's going to be another month or so before I really get to put the new gear to use when all the ducks and geese (along with the eagles and hawks) start migrating in. I just got Wimberly feet for both my Sony lenses so I can use my giimbal head with them. I'm not a huge tripod shooter, but they built a new viewing platform over the summer at the Sac NWR that could be a lot of fun. |

I knew that was a large crop. The detail is a testimony to both the lens' IQ and the resolution of that body. Stunning! I haven't mounted my Wimberly foot yet, on my 600/f4. I hardly ever use a tripod or monopod, but I need to be ready, in case I pull the tripod out of the M3's trunk. ;-) Dave

This guy sat still for me to get about 3 shots before he took off like a rocket.

On a sad note, I was very sorry to hear that this B-17, the Nine 0 Nine crashed while attempting an emergency landing last week in Connecticut. I will miss its yearly visit to my local airfield

I just flew out of that airport a day or two before. Tragic loss of life and aircraft.

I've been missing a wide angle lens in my kit so I recently added a Loxia 21mm before a recent trip to Boston. Here is Boston Harbor just as Hurricane Dorian begins moving in - - - which explains the moody skies and little boat traffic even though it is a Friday afternoon.

Friend's Corvette roller I took the other day, not bad for a Canon T3i with a kit lens
