Bought a new set of doors on ebay. Seller shipped them in just bubble wrap.. Both doors damaged in shipping, seller wouldn't accept returns though I made him accept mine. Horrible packaging. Bought two more doors, finally they both came in decent shape. One corner was bent a bit but I pulled it out. Didn't paint them perfectly but I'm mostly the only one that knows about its imperfections. Also had to replace the entire mirror. Upgraded to M3 style fenders because why not, it was already on my list of things to do.

they are in the deepest part of te depreciation before tons of them get modded to death and then enthusiasts want clean ones. a 100K mile e90 is a $6k average priced car, and that's all the insurance company cares about. |

Just finished my relocated intake for my front turbo. $55 for rubber elbow and a 2.5" to 3" aluminum reducer. I reused my cone filter from my dci. I'm gonna do the rear when I do my down pipes in a few days. Total parts are 2 elbows, one 90°2.5" pipe, one 3" 90° pipe and two 2.5-3 aluminum reducers. Total will be less than $150. I almost bought the vrsf hard pipe kit but decided I wanted to do it my self. After decades of making Volvo go fast parts that don't exist I couldn't pass up on making them.

This was my estimate of the value of the car based on the KBB value plus the cost of "improvements" to my car at the time I insured it which Haggerty accepted. My premium for this coverage is about 50% less than what State Farm was charging me for the same car w/o this valuation. Haggerty will pay the full insured value IF the car is totalled (or stolen and unrecovered) and will also pay the cost of collision damages up to the amount of the car's insured value. By issuing such policies, Haggerty is banking on the desire of "car collectors" to keep their cars in the best condition possible and that fact "car collectors" do not drive their cars very often or recklessly, so that their insurance risk is minimal. My 2008 E90 is one of 3 collector cars that I own and insure w/Haggerty. The others are a 2002 Toyota MR2 and a 2000 911 C4 Cab; each of which I drive no more than 3-4x's a month and not much more than 3k miles/yr. So, if your BMW is a "collector car" like mine, I suggest you insure it with Haggerty. You'll almost certainly save money on the insurance premium and will get far better coverage in terms of the value of the car,

I have fixed my TCU and SOS errors.
now working bluetooth with my CIC swap. also coded all the jobs in tool32 with arguments that actually worked and now inpa reports my vin in all the UIF data. FSC coding is proving difficult. if I could get it to run the script from a flash drive i'd probably be done. |

Today's project was taking out the washer reservoir to fix a leak, then replacing it. Then removing it again because it was still leaking, then replacing it. Then finding that it was leaking again...
I patched a small crack, and now it's leaking slower. I thought the pump was cracked so I replaced it with a spare I had on the shelf, but now I think it's the grommet on the pump leaking. Ordered one at NAPA for pickup in the morning, so hopefully that will finally fix it. Quote:
If I drove my V70R less, that would probably qualify. But that car is my daily driver, so it's not exactly the right candidate for collector/classic car insurance.

well I finaly found a working copy of fstool and it only took about an hour after that.
voice, navigation, all of it. even kept my lifetime sub external sirius receiver it's a great day. now to just find some maps. behold my success edit: the trick to the script file was an ancient lexar XD card reader and it's counterpart 2GB XD card. Yay electronics hoarder me. Last edited by nsjames; 07-11-2020 at 02:16 AM.. |

but it was an 80 dollar ebay replacement that has a lifetime sub so I don't pay for it. I tried to add it to my account and it told me it couldn't and that was 2 years ago. I am incredibly pleased with the cic though. light years better than the ccc. after my combox retrofit I'm going to archive it's drive and put a SSD in it. |

Installed the new wheel setup. Man is it close. I think it's in need of an alignment and a good retuning of the endlinks. I think the sway bar is colliding with the lower control arm. I hear an awful sound when turning on uneven ground.

my car had voice assist with ccc so all the stuff was there and I assume it set itself all up when I default coded it. biggest bitch: Why on earth did programmable buttons go away on the steering wheel? I don't need a steering wheel button to turn recirc on and off, but I really liked having one that turned the screen off for rural night driving. and my rest mode button doesn't work. which was another handy feature. but now it's buried in the cic. xd card reader is of the right vintage. just stuff a card in it and treat it like a usb stick. oddly it read my 32gb sandisk usb 3.0 one just fine for map updates, but it would not do the patch or 1b script from any of the ones I tried. Even a 16gb one of unknown vintage. |
