2006330xi: Welcome! Please post pics of your e90! What kind of mechanical work did you need done? There's a few places that come to my mind: JB Eurotech and Imola.
Right now I don't need anything done to the car (35,000 miles), but at some point I will and I do not want to pay the dealership rates. I called my local shop and asked them if they worked on BMWs and they said yes they do, but I think most places will say yes. How does one determine whether or not a shop is indeed qualified to work on BMWs, or at least has the equipment/expertise to do the job?

Ask them if they are capable of coding and programing newer BMW's if they say no. They likly lack equipment or training on the newer modules. Coeing and programing n NEW BMW's can only be done Via GT1/SSS (old limited now) Autologic or the new Issis or 3G online system from BMW

Hope this helps

Eibach Pro Kit

Just installed the Eibach Pro Kit on my car last night... giant pain in my arse, most likely my own dumb fault on the install, but anyways...

Its been awhile since my last car and the springs I put on there, but does anyone know how long it takes for springs to fully settle and how much do they typically settle?

Another question: New iDrive

I just rode in a new X5 M (badass by the way, the thing handles like 3 series car and hauls ass... sorry thats either here nor there) and was toying around with the iDrive and its voice commands etc., and noticed a few changes to the voice recognition among other things that make life a lot easier when it comes to things like entering addresses. (you can just say the whole address at once instead of going to each city, state, street and calling them out one by one)

Does upgrading to the new navigation version give that fuctionality? Or does it just give you updated road maps and info?

If it doesn't give you that, is there a way to get that fuctionality besides buying a new car?

I know some of you guys with your new 3 series get this.

I know i'm not the majority here, but there is something about a SUV that can haul ass, that makes me go from 6 to midnight. I had a Jeep SRT8 (11.7 1/4 mile) before the BMW and if they make a new gen Jeep SRT8 (looks like they will) I'm definitely going to try and get back into one.

I can totally relate to the fast SUV bug. Since my son was born six months ago, I've been trying to find a nice family ride. I've been looking at the X3, but yesterday I found myself looking at the older X5 4.8is.

Lowering springs

Wassp Mnm3 how did u do the install? I'm trying to do the same thing but I didn't know if any members on here knew how to do it. U mind giving me a hand with the install sometime? I'm told you have to do an alignment after installing the springs

I've swapped out more springs than I care to admit to. Did you already buy them? If not, check out some good coilovers! I could help you out...but full coilovers would take 5 min. less! haha

Lookin good!

I'm free most nights...and you won't need any tools if we do it at my house... or if you have a nice setup we could do it there.

That's a great picture Nick! That parking garage looks familiar, I think I had a photoshoot there with one of my previous cars.

I'd like to see how suspension is installed in a BMW.

What is up guys, just got back from my trip yesterday. I have some catching up to do on E90 post! Did I miss anything exciting? For example, did Anvar get a new car?

I just got done with washing my car for the first time. When I was taking the water off with the chamois, I noticed the hood is covered in water marks Can't imagine where I got them, unless they were on there already. Any tips for removal? I don't think I should use a clay bar yet as the paint is still fresh...

I will probably stop down for a while. The gf is out of town for the week, so I'll be at a loose end...

Check out this DIY page

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15397

I'd be happy to help out. I've done it on my M3 and my old 330 xi. Fortunately both time I did them, it was done at a friend's race shop, so they had a lift. Not a big deal, but it makes it go a little quicker.

Let me know when you want to do it. I'm out of town starting this Wednesday through next week on business, but after that, I'm free.
