Comeon DrJ... You can do it

Bracket did not come with the kit so I thought about fabricating one, when I installed the kit, the air filter was solid so I didn't bother

MOD 49 - M3 Cowl

Have been waiting patiently for a call from Vince (Vtl) to tell me these had arrived..

Once again Vince gave up his evening to install more mod bits on SPCGRY. I helped by holding the torch as darkness fell and riding shotgun on the
trip to Bunnings to get stuff to complete the job.

We needed to tap new nuts for the cowl bolts to screw into, as mine were threaded. This required the use of a hammer to get flush hahah

Also had to do some repair work with some minor damage to a couple of brackets during transport, but in the end we got it installed

The dinan intake has muffled some of the engine noise, but im happy to say the M3 cowls have fixed that by letting more N54 engine growl into the cabin... happy days

Once again thanks Vince. Top Bloke

Looks tidier with the unobtanium cable ducts! Was disappointed some of the plastics were damaged in shipping, will never order from Schmeidmann again! The only thing we have to tidy up is the brake booster pipe, but I have a nice looking solution on the way.

Looks much cleaner in person than the images show, need to take some pics in the daylight.

Looking forward to your brake boosterpipe mod

Ahh yes the dreaded low lighting conditions with flash always makes an engine bay look a million times worse doesn't it!

who do you suggest to use next time, as all the quotes I had were really expensive (ECS etc)?

The only thing you really need Schmeidmann for is:
RHD covers for ECU and brake reservoir
Cable duct upper and lower

FCP were pretty cheap for the lower cowls, didn't charge extra shipping despite how large they are.
I bought the upper cowls used, can get them from FCP but a bit pricey.

My complaint is that Schmeidmann charged extra for shipping yet packaged them poorly, and inefficiently. Opened up 1 of the large boxes and found there was only 2 flat items in there taking 1/10th of the volume of the package. Poor communication, tracking doesnt work.

I'd say price up the upper and lower cowls from FCP and the small bits from schmeidmann, as theres no other place to get them unless you find a complete wrecked set from a RHD E90 M3 sedan. Cable ducts aren't fitted to any other M3 models.

i had no issues when i ordered my 1M strut brace from
Schmeidmann emailed them about the status of the order got a reply back in 15mins.

the only thing was the packaging. Could have easily gotten away with a box half the size or even smaller. they stacked the two left and right bars on top of each other when they could have easily gone next to each other.

they didn't charge me extra for shipping though and were significantly cheaper then anyone else both for the parts and for shipping.
