b. Preventive: my battery had just died and when they scanned the car the water pump codes were coming up- even after resetting for 3 weeks continously. So I didnt want to be stranded on the side of the road and/or risk damaging the engine so I got the waterpump and tstat, expansion tank, and hoses done

E. Recall repairs with blower connector wiring and PCV valve by dealer, dealer tried to proposed a $4000 repair for the valve cover gasket leaked and Oil pan gasket leaked, I removed the bottom plastic cover to check, didn't think so, it is some spilled engine oil when topping off the engine oil from previous oil changes, not a drop of oil on garage floor, no oil consumption in between oil changes.

Reached 171,000 last month on the original pump. Car was totaled, so it will be heading to the scrap heap with the same original pump. Kind of a shame, the engine was still in good shape, save for some small oil leaks.

This is for N52 owners ONLY. Please vote yes IF and ONLY IF YOUR PUMP ACTUALLY FAILED. If you replaced it for precautionary (preventive maintenance) purposes, do NOT VOTE at ALL. This will skew the data. However do feel free to post details in a written response below.

If you did replace your water pump (preventive or because of failure), please also provide the following info:

a. year / model / transmission
b. did it actually fail or was this preventive maintenance?
c. how much did the repair cost (and indicate labor vs parts)?
d. was it replaced at indy or dealer?
e. was there any other damage caused as a result?
f. do you track your vehicle? (DO NOT reply if you participate in canyon carving, street racing, etc.). strictly referring to auto-x, road course, drift and drag.
a. 2006 / 325xi E91 / auto
b. preventive maintenance
c. $650 total parts and labor
d. indy
e. none
f. no

Think I jinxed my self...

I just voted on this poll that I was between 90 and 100K. Without replacing the water pump. Well guess what @93k I had to replace the water pump and thermostat. That third bolt is an asshole am I right?

A. 2009 / 328i / manuel
B. It failed (overheated went into limp mode with my wife driving, scared the shit out her. She was on a busy road)
C. $412 in parts for FCP of course. No labor did it myself.
D. Replaced by me.
E. No damage.
F. No track days, she is not that kind of girl..

I have 160k. Finally doing the t-stat and WP this winter. No codes, just preventative maintenance. I've owned the car for over 100k but I doubt it was ever replaced.
