as bluewater328 noted, it does not work on US diesels.
However, the US diesel comes with DDE 7.3 (with DEF integration), while UK is probably still using DDE 5.X.

I saw report in this forum that UK M57TU2 works. The N47 UK version likely uses earlier DDE that reports oil temp correctly
Whaat really?

What about Canada?

TheMidnightNarwhal - I believe that both Canada and US are the same - I could be wrong.

Marketing doc (attached) says NA on page 10, but then explicitly says US on most of the pages.

This technology is now being made available to drivers in North America.
BMW is introducing this diesel technology to the USA and Canada under the name "BMW Advanced Diesel with Blue Performance".
DDE version quote, page 28:
Quote:
The new DDE7.3 engine control module is used on the US version M57D30T2 engine.
The DDE 7 version is used due to the fact that the DDE 6 engine control module was not sufficient to accommodate the addition of the SCR system as well as additional OBD functions.
DDE 7 will be used on future generations of diesel engines including the N57 which will be available sometime later.

I have just a quick question... does the top box ( start offset steps) have to be set for 84 for all cars, or is this number different for each car??

I only ask as my needle sits a little in front of the 0 when ignition is off. Does this number correspond to the start point of the gauge??

When it was in live mpg mode the number in the box was alot lower, something like 18??

Sorry for the daft question.

Gonna have to have a play with values as it doesn't move with the current coding of 0 444 888 1333 1810 and 0 50 75 100 125 150.

🙄

Thanks for that, but alas it seems that it doesn't work on a 320d with M47TU2 engine, although I cant get a definitive answer so I will persevere.

I have DDE 6 and have a Hi Kombi retro fitted but it still won't work. 🤔☹

I'm no coding expert so forgive my ignorance... lol.

Put it back to standard for the time being.

Seems this coding won't work on the 320d M47 engined e9*s even with DDE 6

I don't understand why you need the BMW tools (ISTA+ etc)

When reading this thread you use these tools to connect to your car but after that you close it and open the Mr Perfect tool...

Where's the connection link then?

I just want to activate the oil temp warning item around my M3 look rev counter

You cannot activate ring around rpm dial, because there is no hardware on regular clusters for it.

You need to modify hardware first, then you can use perfect toolbox to activate it.

Yes, I have a 335i so I have already a gauge at the bottom of my REV counter which is linked to the oil temp.
I added a stepmotor on the circuit board for the REV gauge but now I have to activate the in Mr Perfect called "warning zone".

And so I come back to my question, can I activate this "warning zone" only by using the Mr Perfect tool software?

The tool to modify mileage-2-oiltemp display needs a BMW software bridge to talk to the respective ECU.
It can not communicate on its own with ECU.
Hence you need BMW tools installed and configured.
In any case, ISTA+ would be great diagnostic toolset addition

Okay, getting closer! I have the temp dial pulled from a cluster... but software is driving me insane! Cannot get standard tools working on a laptop, so major roadblock there :-/

Firstborn (the only one in the house with the aptitude) is trying to get it going. But at least I've got this part going for me:

I found this video:

If the oil temp (metric) gauge on the E92 is 70C, 120C and 170C which settings would be most appropriate for the oil temperature C in the software?

70C, 95C, 120C ,145C, 170C ?
