I accidentally engaged launch control the first time I did it, though I knew of the feature. I was in a neighborhood late at night in beverly hills w a friend in the car, originally trying to demonstrate the difference in shift speed and feel when using sport. I disabled DSC/DTC completely by holding down and just floored it from a stop. It kicked up to 5k rpm or so and launched violently. Pretty damn cool feature, but I'm sure it's not the best thing for the transmission. I did i once more and stayed on the gas and probably burnt off 500 miles of life on the rears.

Nice!! Glad to see other owners reviews and pointers on the launch control .. It's a bad ass feature

i didnt know the US version has it :O i did it a few days ago. it didnt let me do it till i hit 1500 milage on my car. currently at 1667 right now. i kinda dont like it. it spins like crazy launching at 5k. i rather have traction fully off. sports on with S1, ease off abit off the line then punch it.

i really don't want to start a war or anything but i am simply curious. The 335is is a pretty expensive car (very expensive to most), and it is almost the price of an m3 correct? (sedan I guess but hey it's an m3)

i read enjoixe92's thread and considering his age he said the insurance on an m3 or a used m5 would be ridiculous. this i can understand. however, i assume not everyone is in the same situation as enjoixe92.

when choosing the 335is, performance is an obvious desire for owners however it is almost at an m3 price. is the insurance, and gas mileage the primary factors for not making the extra bump to the m3?

Thank you for the information.

Well, the price differential between a loaded 335is and M3 is 62,500 - 75,000 now. It's still a relatively large bump. For me, buying used wasn't a route I was going for, so 13k was a large difference for me.
I love my car but if I could go back to do it again, I'd probably just spring for a new loaded M3, mainly because at this point, why not just go all the way. Also, half of it has to do with the fact that the M3 is considerably more reliable than my car is going to be. I'll keep this til my 6 yr 100k maintenance warranty is up and probably move onto something bigger and better hopefully.

The IS has a lot of low end torque which makes it more fun to drive at low speed.

np, well i guess its just me. i had 3 accidents in the 2009 335i and also 4th one is a total. as much as insurance paid out to fix my car, it totaled up to nearly 94k in fixing. it all adds up due to airbags. and because of that, i just turned 20 in oct 30th. yes the 335is is nearly the price of a base m3 sedan and coupe. because having a base m3 isnt any fun but adding to it may end up to be 65k-70k.

true that. but the launch control, i dislike how it sits at 5k to launch and thats very high. it may dump your clutch and also wore out your tires spinning to even out the trottle. i havent got used to it yet.

Hi guys.... I have tons of pic from my 335is... but compare to you guys my pic sucks..
I'll post my pic once I get good enough pic.

I am curious about our BRAKE.
is IS brake "brembo"? (my friend told me its brembo)
is it worth to put 3~4k to get performance brake?(comes with yellow calliper)

thx.

The stock 335is brakes are not brembo (all the Brembo ones say so pretty clearly). You're paying for a lot for that brand name... so unless you are tracking your car a lot, that's a lot of money down the drain.
