beauty is in the ear of the beholder, surely. the 350Z note is so sweet to me, and i have yet to hear a 335i exhaust that comes close. So, riddle me this: (1) is it asking the impossible to replicate that throaty sound from an N54?; (2) do i need to redirect my tonal taste; or (3) am i an unwashed heathen for even suggesting that the Z sounds better than the i?

I'm used to working with chevy V8's so hopeefully I'm not completely wrong about this. Has anyone tried running custom pipes from your DP's back to an aftermarket muffler of any brand?

Here are a couple of clips of my Dinan axle back before downpipes have been installed. I will post up after DP install clips this weekend.

Here's mine with DMH low profile electric cutouts. Installed dual on each pipe at the bend before the mufflers and after the resonator/cat back.

I think they are 2.5" and dual low profile. There was no room to mount any closer to the turbos. So my installer made the decision to put them where they are now and mentioned something about a possible pull effect like an X pipe, but not sure how much of that is plausible. They are electric

Video of my E90 335i Custom Dual 3" Exhaust w/ 6" Custom Catted DP - filmed inside, exhaust is for sale (selling car). DP has 4" V-band to swap out for catless pipe (not made) and dual exhaust has V-bands at diff to swap muffler out for stright pipes (pipes are made, vid to post soon). Muffler to straightpipes swap takes about 10min with car on the ground. Exhaust midpipes are resinated but also have non-res midpipes that will go with kit. Also have pipes to connect system to stock dp's. Full exh is 304SS.

I have the Akrapovic exhaust only with the Ar downpipes and it sounds close to stock. (N54). I wonder if it would sound more "aggressive" with the secondary cat delete. Hate rasp!!
