That's it! You even got the location over the radiator perfect. That's where my snow melts first.

Small carbon fiber vents (moved up), but with a nice reverse scoop, which would probably be painted

This is my vote. I'm not a fan of the center vent. It's just too much. I prefer the subtlety that ArmyBimmerDude mentioned. Plus, I think something more subtle is more likely to sell than something extreme:

are these hoods only for the initial members who signed up for them? or are they going to be mass produce? my initial thought was for only the ten that signed up. If so anyone can vote or just the ten members?

I have been after a E-92 vented hood for many months now. Why is so difficult to make one hood similar to the one on the E-90?

Why did Vorsteiner made one for the E-90 but did not pursuit making a vented one for the E-92?

I would really like to see one vented hood just like the one on the e-90. I checked the Vis Racing and Seibon Carbon hoods but I don't like the designs.

Seven - you have the right idea, but those front intakes are redundant because of the kidneys. They are already pulling in plenty of cool air, the hot air needs to be exhausted through a reverse scoop.

Exactly, but the kidneys have the radiator in the way, I was suggesting something direct to the upper part of the compartment, then I can remove that oem plastic deflector and more air will be sucked in by the intake. I'll try to illustrate what I mean in a simple drawing.

I came up with this idea when I was building my own custom air scoops that went behind the kidneys.

Here you go:

Seven 227, it does not work like that. When the air hits the nose of the car, it bumps over your scoop. Have a look at the wind tunnel flow pictures. Your front scoop area is low pressure area from which the air is pushed up if there are vents in there. You should have the scoop in the bumper part if you want to get more air in.

The windscreen is a hindrance for the air and it packs the air in front of it. This air is pushed in all the directions it can exit. If there is an exit as a vent in the hood in front of the windscreen, the air goes inside the engine compartment. So no air comes out from the vent in front of the windscreen. Now your vents are a bit on the side rather than directly in the front of the windscreen, so they are not that bad. However, there is an issue of the hot air not getting out. The vent for the hot air getting out in the front part of the hood would help a lot.

THEY ARE going to make it. You just have to wait. When the E90 version came out...many people complained about the vents. So this time, they released the non-vented version one first. Currently they have been working on the new e92 trunk which should be out any day now. So, now...its probably time to work on e92 vented hood (with powerdome) and later the E90 trunk---if all goes as planned.

This thread is for a group of people that do not like the current plan. They are trying to come up with their own design. Because like you...they want to have the vents (similar but not exactly like the e90 version) BUT they DO NOT WANT the powerdome. Whether it actually goes into production, what the cost will eventually be...only time will tell.

I took pictures of my car with snow on it yesterday. I forgot to 'develop' them in Lightroom. It clearly shows the area where heat melts the snow, so it should be helpful for you guys.

The design should have form and function. The center vent area is where there is the greatest heat from the car. The design should serve as a vital solution to help vent heat built up under the hood. The side vents are purely cosmetic where the center vent would actually help in venting built up heat.

My measurements show that the center vent area is roughly 20C warmer than the side vents. If anything you could ditch the side vents and just keep the center from a functionality standpoint.

Hot air will move up and out of the vents no matter where we put them, in all honesty.... it will escape however it can as it fills the entire hood, and heat rises.
