@PTF

Why do you guys keep talking crap about wedge?

I believe when they started BQ tuning/wedge, they even stated without PTF accelerating the learning curve, they probably wouldn't be here....

You guys also keep brining up old JB crap with ken, why? If you guys don't think Jake should be mentioned with PTF anymore because it isn't relevant, why bring up Ken/jb stuff?

I'm all for friendly competition and what not, it forces change...but can you honestly say every single little thing about n54/55 tuning has been discovered?

Its one thing to be passionate about something and another to be passionate as well as willing and able to understand what you're doing with tuning instead of just tinkering and throwing things together. You're catching on but its clearly a slow process and for once learn to spell your partner's username, its BuraQ lol not BaruQ
Bottom line is you have shown everyone that you're a nice guy who is still living in the past. Get over it D. You haven't shown any improvements to this platform and have been milking people for modified OTS maps for too long. Yeah, I know how you tune bro. You only know theory and it shows. I can duplicate your tune with my eyes closed because you're not doing anything with the PIDs and that's why your post shift timing is crap. You also don't know how to control torque output in your maps so your cars can't pull through 4th gear let alone 5th at a half mile event because your cars are hitting a torque limiter. OP is not the only car that suffers from this and it's funny you just don't care. You need to go back to school or take a course in Wedge101 because you have competition. You can't kick enough dirt on me to cover up the fact that we make better power and are more consistent because we tune for it. BTW, keep trying to reference me as the tuner. Dimitri does all the tuning and I see you know how to spell his name because you are threatened by us and we're here to stay.

One difference is that Jake was not as aggressive, didn't write long mud slinging posts, and consequently didn't get banned. You are talking about Dzenno in third person, but it does not help much if your posts are even more argumentative than Dzenno's.

This thread started with a review of our former customer who was tuned by a tuner temporarily with us last year and no longer with us although we'd LOVE to work with him any day of the year as he's a true tuning genius and a great person.

Thread title gets set to PTF as that apparently was/is the right thing to do. Fine. Original tuner was not aware of the torque limit issue or the workaround for it and the customer reached out to Dzenno to try and resolve the torque limit issue. Dzenno immediately responded and started working it out with the customer indicating to Ken that there is no true FIX to the issue without the Alpina TCU flash as we truly believe so. There is a workaround and some will refer to it as a fix but we choose not to as it gets around the torque limit but imposes a different issue that exhibits itself over time and may involve an expensive repair. Ken contacted us but this is where communication stopped as we felt on a number of occasions our work was being copied and based on bad past experience we simply refused to talk about any workarounds with anyone outside of our team.

There are flash tuners in Germany for instance today that are shamefully copying our approach to tuning the N54 as we chose to open our maps to a few shops there that had a "crunch" to get the cars running so they could "tweak maps if need be last minute at the track" While it is flattering to see others enjoy your work we have spent countless hours perfecting/changing our maps and continue to get them where they are today and where they'll be tomorrow. I'm sure that most of you would take it to heart as well especially when not given any credit, let alone when competed/compared against.

In this thread, our tune was reviewed and compared directly to another tuner. We felt the need to provide our view of the posted logs, explain issues but also differences in the approaches and tools used for tuning between us and the other tuner in a technical way. Technical discussion was unfortunately shadowed over and thread went south.

Back and forth for 6 pages without a single post that'd further technical discussion with claims made on behalf of the other vendor about our tuning process that has successfully created over 1200 custom flash tunes in 2+ years setting various records along the way including hp/tq/60-130/1/4 mile making the community realize true power of flash tuning on the N54 in the first place.

In terms of our maps vs. OTS. Our starter maps are vastly different from OTS. If anyone has any doubts about that you're more than welcome to send your map into Cobb tuning and inquire on differences. This is especially the case with maps we've sent in the 12-16 months, and they're still and ALWAYS will be changing and improved upon.

In terms of our starter vs OTS maps performance you're welcome to ask any of our customers what they thought of OTS vs. a PTF starter map. The difference even with our starter V1 map is night and day in all areas of the tune including power and response. By the time each customer's tune is done it is always different. Our VANOS exhaust/intake timing maps are quite a departure from OEM/OTS especially on the road course specific tunes.

Anything else you guys would like to know please don't hesitate to ask. We've started a thread here for any PTF related questions in case you'd like to ask:

We'd truly LOVE to have a technical discussion! Tuning is and has always been our passion and that is to stay with us for as long as we exist on this planet We love cars, we love making horsepower, we love perfecting tuning and we're truly OCD about doing things the right way which has gotten us into debates with other tuners/approaches over the years when it came to how we believe things should be done. We're happy that most of those debates resulted in better tuning and options for the N54 and its drivers and enthusiasts.

If there is desire/interest to reset and pick up the discussion purely from the technical point of view and we can promise to keep it civil we'd love to participate. We will make that promise on our end.

Cheers and enjoy your Saturday night.

PTF

I'm interested in the technical issue that OP had.

You mention that Ken's fix is a workaround and you would not personally apply this. Could you elaborate on what problems you would expect to see and how exactly it would cause them?

Would be nice to keep personal insults away from this thread, I imagine it's not far from a lock.
