Need to replace torque converter, probably from a 330d or 335d

You'll probably need a different ECU (DDE) and extra wiring and plumbing for the turbos. From the picture you can see two wastegates so that would mean extra piping for vacuum lines and two boost solenoids controlled by the different DDE. Then you got the problem the new DDE won't work with your keys as the ISN code is stored in the DDE and CAS to handshake each other.

Going to be a lot more work than just bolting on the turbo.

Is it possible to somehow run a piggyback ECU?

The DDE a different part number, not sure if its the same hardware with a different flash. Ideal solution would be to find a 123d with a blown engine. Then just take all the piping/turbo/ecu/cas and fit it to your car.

In theory a piggyback could work but there's nothing out there you can just buy. It would have to be custom developed with a ton of R&D.

It would be much easier just fitting a larger twin scroll single turbo and tune that with a flash tune.

Hmmmm fair enough, even finding an X1 23d should work yeah ? Since it's the same engine and electrics.

How come with a single turbo, you can just tune the ecu. But twins you need new ecu. Wouldn't you just be changing the map and boost pressure as you would with a single setup ?

Ohhhh right that makes sense.

So easiest option would be to just find wrecked 123d or X1 23d and just remove all the parts you need.

But then there is the issue of coding Ecu to our cars like you said.

Oh really ?.....that's good then. Just buy the down pipe. And get them to do a tune and DPF delete. Would probably be cheaper.

Just an update,
Got a JBD from a forum member in the states. Finally got a chance to install it.

All I can say is wow. It pulls so much stronger then before, it feels like it's permanently in DS mode. It's set at 80% and so far no codes, works great. Well worth the money

Will be interesting to see how much power is increased by at the dyno day. Compared to a flash tune.

Increases fuel rail pressure, which increases the amount of fuel injected, hence more power. It works quite well, since in a diesel air is constant, and only fuel is adjusted for power etc.

How much? How hard was it to install??

I got it used for $190 USD shipped from the states. Brand new their $270 USD. Installation was easy took 2 mins just piggybacks into the fuel rail pressure sensor and wola!!

....its really is a great piece of kit for the money

Finally got a chance to install it. All I can say is wow. It pulls so much stronger then before, it feels like it's permanently in DS mode. It's set at 80% and so far no codes, works great.
