1MOREMOD - they don't shed...not like a Mastiff or Lab. Hair is soft but with texture.

Incredibly good with family and children, loyal and protective.

Ours fought off a black bear in the yard when I was 14 or so...killed one of her cubs too.

The bear smelled AWFUL however...

another cool tidbit - she would dig in the woods after large prey. I have seen may times when she'd uncover a root about the size of a bicep - she snap it in half and keep digging...one of her favorite play toys was a basketball - she could pick it up fully inflated...

One of the nicest jewelry stores in the area had one in the shop every day. Never smelled bad and was a very cool dog. Freaked most people out when it came wandering out from behind the counter. Yours would to though!

Wouldn't dig in the yard - only in the woods, and only after prey.

The females are about 140ish, the males are much larger and about 6' long.

Probably one of the best dogs we ever had when I was young.

When you'd walk into that jewelry store and it would be laying in the middle of the showroom you'd think someone accidentally dropped a shredded area rug on the floor as they were headed to the garbage.
