FTWD i call a B grade spin off (and im being extremely lenient)... the acting is terrible, the characters are not compelling... dunno, maybe because TWD is miles better and knowing that its a spin off had me expecting MUCH more... Its good to fill in the gaps, and quench some zombie thirst, but i try to avoid putting them in the same sentence.
Cant wait for the new season... i think they wont show us who got hit with the bat just to keep us in suspense... and at the end of the day, i know people who took a bat to the head and survived... maybe no-one has to die? |

If it is Maggie, I could see Glenn getting up to stop it and getting a death beating too. A sort of Romeo and Juliet type ending. The easy way out would be Abraham. But since it is supposed to shocking, I see it being someone like Maggie. |

Meh, they really screwed up by not having this ending last season. Most people knew by July who the victims were, and honestly I started laughing when Glenn showed up with his bulging eyeball. No suspense or anything, nothing like when the folks were lined up at the trough at Terminus getting whacked in the back of the head and then having their throats slit. That was BRUTAL, and I wasn't laughing while watching that scene as I was tonight with Negan/Lucille. They should have ended season 6 as all the suspense was built up, but no, had to go for the dollars and most people knew who the victims were way before the show aired. So lame.
I'll still watch it of course, but the show jumped the shark for me tonight. Didn't even start off the episode with the beatings, gotta see 'em in a flashback, because hey what's another 20 minutes when you've been waiting 8 months ya'll! |

You know, that's a good point and I did start to think of that as well. It just dragged on for way too long, became kind of sick in a way.

I called it before it even happened. I called Glenn right after he killed Abraham because it was so obvious he wasn't done as it wouldn't have been impactful enough after 8 months of waiting.

That was a brutal episode. Negan is a sadistic mf'er. Didn't see 2 people getting it either. I really thought Rick was going to chop off Corral's arm.

Indeed brutal episode but we all knew Glenn was going to be axed. They prolonged his character for a while from the comics. |

I read a couple reviews and it seems generally people are upset with this episode and the way it made them feel.
That is the point people. This was one of the better premieres I have ever seen period, and it is because of the relationship we've built up with these characters over the years. It was gut wrenching and uncomfortable from start to finish. It made me literally sick to my stomach and I found myself looking away at times just to avoid being SO engrossed in everything. Sadist? Yes of course, but it was completely necessary. The notion of breaking an individual is all about going PAST conventional into unnecessary territory. And owning that territory. This show went way too far, and it was proud to do so. Carl's arm almost getting cut off was the icing on the cake. The conversations Neegan had with Glenn and Abraham after he hit them both the first time was one of the sickest, most difficult things I have ever watched. For any of you who've watched SOA, this was worse than Jemma. I waited months for this to come back, I knew it would be uncomfortable, and it was much much worse. The reactions only further cement this as such a great episode, as the comments are all over the place. People cannot handle it. They don't like it. And that's exactly the point.

It's a fine line between the brutality necessary to establish the character and to break Rick and just torture porn and I'm not sure that TWD didn't cross it last night. The brutality of the deaths of Abraham and Glen aren't what broke Rick, it was ultimately Carl ... so not sure that the gruesomeness of the deaths was necessary from that perspective.

not sure why all the complaints about the brutality. hershel getting his leg cut off? his head severed? denise arrow in the eyeball? nothing new here. getting killed off the show by zombies biting you to death is old news as well.
getting smashed on the head by a bat anyone would of been on the ground on the first hit and holding your head. getting back up and having a convo is pretty fake to say the least. This was the best premier on this show period. negans acting was amazing. they showed theres alot more coming for the rest of this season. the group have to recover and come back from this, i hope jesus joins the list of A characters in place of glenn.

This show is only going to push the acceptable boundary of gore limit on TV. Last night was expected with Glen, and unexpected with Abraham.
IMO - one of the better (if not the best) episode yet. Rick and the crew now understand they no longer have any control of their immediate destiny, and must completely submit to Negan for survival. Those who have followed the series prior to TV know and understand that scene was far more brutal in print than anything possible last night. My wife - who HATES blood and gore - could not stop watching, and then complained to me she is never watching this show again. Funny thing though - she makes the same comment almost every week when she 'just happens' to watch it with me again |
