Thanks for you're help on Friday, great customer service.

Here are a few pictures of a heat shield that I fabricated this past weekend. So far I’ve noticed a 20 degree temperature drop from the filter.

Cool! (no pun intended)

How are you measuring temps? What are your experiences with temps as the car sits in traffic or idles, if you have any yet. Any info on how you made your heat shield? I assume you made sure a) it does come up high enough to hit the under-hood insulation, or it will shred it up with vibration, and b) it doesn't scrape/rattle around against the frame and make annoying noise or remove paint.

I’ve measured the temperature of the filter with a heat gun, before and after the shield. The heat shield was made of aluminum, however I plan on fabricating one out of ABS plastic in the near future. There’s no issues the with the shield hitting , scraping or vibrating against the hood.

great job on the heatshield...I think you should get some insulation to cover up the edges on top to make a nice tight seal with the hood when its closed!!! Nice to see DIY

Awesome. Now do the modified intake snorkel and have it outlet into the intake heat shielded area...slap a piece of weatherstripping on the top of the heatshield, and it will be perfect.

edit: and also add the DIY scoops to the intake snorkel.

That's what I plan on doing next....

I already have the dimensions marked on my template for the snorkel, however I have to purchase a replacement before I can do this. Since mine has a crack

How much of a difference would it make if i were to do the Brake Duct mod and the modified snorkel

On another Logic thread, there are diagram pics of the 328's snorkel. Direct bolt in replacement and the little snorkely thing is already pointed the right way! I think Tischer or somewhere else has them for $46 or so. We should see if we can do a bulk order of these things...either the regular snorkel to hack, or the 328's to just use as-is.

+1 I would be up for doing a group buy of the 328 snorkel for sure.

If you are a little mechanically inclined, the brake duct mod isn't too terribly bad. But you do need to partially remove the fender lining and bumper so you can get into there to remove and modify the brake duct. I haven't seen any data for temps in the HVI area with/without the brake duct modified, but just logic (haha, get it?) would tell me that more air would be getting up into the engine bay.

I would like to add, I have had the intake almost a week now.
Every time I get home and pop the hood and touch the intake tubing.
It's just warm, not uncomfortable warm. The aluminum is doing really well with mininum heatsoak.

This is after various styles of driving from spirited runs to highway cruising.

You will not be disappointed with the Logic HVI

Yeah I put this in another thread. Here's the link
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...13#post2341413

I have everything on order. When I install it, I'll post on it. I wonder if we can modify that heat shield to use the 328 snorkel....
