in any case I beleive the mags reported that there was no official Toyota confirmation of what it stood for. just speculation about Fuji and internal numbers from the past.

Here's the actual press release from Lexus.

Damn, my thread got popular.

Unfortunately, too much bitching and nothing constructive-ish!

I was one of the biggest bashers of the IS-F....still don't like it but I want to try it out.

I signed up for the Ultimate IS-F experience on July at Atlanta.

I will post my honest opinion of the IS-F after I do some hot laps.

I am travelling and paying $295 to drive a Lexus..... Just a sanity check to ensure I have not drank too much Bavarian Kool-aid.

If I hate the experience, I will won't be shy about why.

TOKYO, October 4, 2007 - Lexus announced today that it will begin sales in Japan, starting on December 25, of the "IS F"*.

* Based on the idea of creating a vehicle that can run on various types of roads, the vehicle was extensively tested on race circuits, including Higashifuji Technical Center and Fuji Speedway. The "F" in the IS F name comes from the "F" in "Fuji Speedway".

ok - so know we know the truth. its stands for Fuji, not flagship, not fast, not faux, not fail and not fake.

Hard to say.... I have a review of my test drive on the M3 see here:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131136

You really need to beat it at the track to get any type of real assessment. At 80%, all cars feel about the same given the same horsepower. Only when stressed will the true character come out.

The RS4 might seem fierce below 60 mph in a straight line push it a little and it turns into an understeering girl scout.

Like I said, you can't really tell a car's character unless you beat it. For $295, you can beat the snot out of an IS-F.....why not??

Were you pissed again about my comments on the Audi RS4 being an understeering girl scout?

If I like it, you will know. If I don't, you will know. The point is I am actually doing something to form my opinion versus reading magazines.

a buddy well acquaintance actually of mine bought an isf he returned it the same day he got it last week!!!! he went straight to bmw and bought an m3...what does that say!!! the isf is a POS!!! it is about 5 secs behind the m3 per lap i believe it was at leguna seca... the car is such a POS anyone stupid enough to choose one over an m3,c63 or rs4 is completely off their rocker!!!! why pay 60k for some jap crap when you can get the real deal with bmw!!! i drove the m3 and the isf and damn..the isf under steers way too much..more wheel spin, more body roll, worse sound system, slower, felt real loose compared to the m3, interior quality was much lower..though i was in an m3 with upgraded leather but the lexus was fully loaded so whatever...Lexus is just such a joke!!!! the chassis just felt well like a stiffer toyota!!! NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL!!!! I would take my 335 over it any day of the week!!! sure it may be faster in a straight line but the isf chassis sucks!!!

You gave your opinion of the S5 prior to driving it, maybe you are starting to see the errors of your ways.

So wait, he bought it after test driving it, and i guess he liked it as well since he bought it because why would you buy it if you don't like it and then realized that it sucks after he bought it when initially he liked it that's why he bought it in the first placed and then returned it, all in one day! I'm guessing he didn't financed it and paid cash for it, or did he leased. Either way , i hope he didn't loose money on that deal.

P.S. BTW, it was 4 seconds slower than the M3 in that Motor Trend comparison in Laguna Seca.

The error of my ways is engaging in discussions with you. You drag me down with your errors and then beat me down with your inexperience.

BTW, I said I am open to Audi changing Quattro on the new cars like S5. I have an open invitation to drive an S5 for a weekend but I rather clip my toenails.
