I got my catted VRSF DP in two months a go, damn this thing is awesome. Throttle is a lot more responsive now, and I can hear the turbo more. Plus I have to say for 500 bucks the quality of this DP is not bad, I really like it. I have a Dinan flash tune and cuz of that I got a 45 degree spacer and it works very well, no CEL no nothing. Smells a bit for cold start but once it gets warm there's no smell at all. I was once a doubter on VRSF, this definitely changed my mind. Just wish they package things better, did mess up on my first package.

update: switched to AA catted downpipe with 400 cell, cuz even with spacer vrsf dp isn't completely cel proof, now I'm happy. The response on the throttle is just as good, a tad bit quieter than vrsf dp but overall amazing. Plus on start up, the car does not smell anymore.

Tried to do my xDrive B58 yesterday at my garage but was defeated at the end by how stuck the OEM DP was to the mid-pipe. Barely fitting under the car meant almost zero leverage to push/pull the joint. I had everything unbolted at that point and retrospectively I think that was a mistake as I was pulling/pushing the entire exhaust as a single body back and forth to no effect.

I will repeat at my local lift for more leverage and will keep the 2 bolts of the DP bracket fully screwed so that I can push/pull / hammer the mid-pipe away from the DP providing some resistance.

One more question I had when putting everything back together accepting (temporary) defeat:

The v-band bolt position, I thought why not place it vertically? It's then possible to unscrew from the top with an extension pointing straight down but surely others must have thought of that too, yet the bolt is in an awkward position from factory. Is there a risk of the waste-gate arm hitting the v-band's bolt if not placed in that bottom awkward position??
Attached is a pic of how i left it, maybe re-placing it before turning the car back on tomorrow?

I just did the same thing with the bracket, logs show normal load/boost. I didn't think of this though, it's a good question and wonder how to test?

I don't think I have seen a single video of it being placed like a I did anywhere , it's either at an angle or completely 90deg/perpendicular to this position I left it, meaning the socket goes on the bolt completely "from the side" and surely someone would have mentioned something about positioning?

Then again, nobody mentioning anything could mean it doesn't impact the waste-gate? But why no-body does it?

I found it just as easy to tighten in the position it comes in rather than changing it. But I don’t think it’s an issue if that works better for you.

Agreed, splitting hairs but it is slightly easier due to straight shot!

I positioned mine back to the original spot because I have OCD, but I don't think it's going to impact anything negatively either way.

Im pretty sure most of yall dont want to spend 400$ at a shop to install the your brand new downpipes so Im making a DIY for you all, It took me 3 hours or so to put it in because ive never done a downpipe in my life before, but I will show you a trick later that will save you a LOT of time. I went through the headache but now I will save you time ;D

Needed tools:
1x Ratchet
1x 14mm
1x 13mm
1x Pipe expanding tool 3"
22mm Wrench
1x Anti Seize Paste
1x 8mm socket
1x pick tool

Step 1 Put car on Jack Stands
Step 2remove airbox ofc

Step 3 Remove Under tray cover

STep 4 Remove Oxygen Sensor Wires. This one is a little tricky, unplugging them is easy, just twist the locking part press down and pull out but to get the o2 sensor wire off the plastic wire box cover thingy use a 90 degree pick tool and press the locking tab down and wiggle it out

]

Step 5 Unbolt DP to midpipe (IIRC it was a 13mm)

STep 6 unbolt downpipe to turbo(Bolt is under the turbo using a V-Clamp Feel for it when the engine is cool to touch(IIRC its a 13mm socket use a deep socket)

Step 7 With the DP and everything disconnected there is 2 nuts holding the DP to the car(Sorry i forgot to take picture, but just look down and reach for the two 14mm nuts and loosen them, at this point your DP is probably stuck to your midpipe still so all you have to do is wiggle the darn thing out

Step 8 Once youve gotten the DP off the car remove the two pre cat and post cat O2 Sensors with a 22mm wrench

Step 9 Stick a small amount of anti seize paste on the threads so its not a PItA to get off later down the road if you have to.

Step 10
****** NO CEL TRICK*******
Errr so for you "Track and Offroad only/Not legal for street" people errr all you have to do is buy a 90 degree o2 sensor extension and place it in this orientation which can be found here:

https://www.amazon.com/Degree-Angled.../dp/B00B1U6I54

*********NOTE THIS IS FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY NOT LEGAL FOR STREET USAGE*********: lol:

OH and yes you will still pass inspection if its OBD2 only

Step 11 *********MAJOR KEY This single handed took me two hours of anguish because i did not use the pipe expansion tool. the down pipe would not fit nicely and now my neck hurts like crap because of this

********
With the Pipe expanding tool make the inlet on the midpipe bigger like this. You can rent one of these @ autozone or oreilly for FREE

STep 12
Start putting DP back where old one was

Step 13 Line up the DP to turbo and put the v clamp back on and tighten the clamp on the midpipe as well as bolting the midpipe nut back on to hold it in place(I forgot to mention removing that earlier but im pretty sure that is self explanatory.

Step 14 Plug in O2 Sensors

Step 15 Put undertray cover back on

Step 16 Close hood jack the car down GO TAKE A SHOWER because i know at this point you probably have black all over yourself for whatever reason. And we dont want you dirtying the inside of your nice new BMW now would we?

Step 17 Go do some 0-60 pulls and let me know how it goes

Sound clip per request:

do you know if the sensor extender would work on a 2017 330i
