Heater plug regulator, had mine done few weeks ago on saturday. Said it would take 90mins. Went for lunch, got call that was done. Drove home, all working same. Only evidence is a small spliced piece of wire i found in the front passenger footwel.

I have this exact suspicion. I've decided to try sorting a few things before I book it just in case. A friend of a friend ran diagnostics, found and fixed a broken wire and reset my LCM the other day, (for free, the legend). He advised me there's a couple other bits need doing so this could be fun.

I’m another “NO WASH”

Took my car today to dealership, had the PCV heater and blower motor wiring done. They gave me a rental and had the car done by 5p. BMW of Sarasota is very very busy so this was acceptable time. Car was in same condition I gave it to them in. I’m just happy it’s done! Now on to some other things on the car “to do” list.

So got a letter from BMW Group informing me they can now action the two reveals on my car. So I phone to book it in only to be told they can no longer offer a courtesy car or offer to pick up the car from home address and drop it back.

So I have to fork out my own money for a taxi and then pay for public transport to get to work (I would have to train it across London) and back because of their bad design issues.

Not exactly happy with that, I was willing to compromise saying if I work from home will you collect the car so I won't need a courtesy car just an abrupt no.

Rubbish.

Edit: Just received a call from my local BMW who said actually it's no problem sir you can have a courtesy car so all booked in for 3rd December.
So if anyone does call in to book in the care and gets put through to the central booking department ignore them when they tell you that you can't have a hire car or pick up drop off service!!

ive been put through to the booking central and had the same experience, been told no cc available due to the large recall of the amount of cars

explained that i cannot wait around in their showroom for 3 hours due to work commitments, then told that this is the only option or i drop the car off and pick it up the next day. the advisor did not understand the dealer is an hour away so I would be wasting time travelling and further out of pocket for a taxi. I just hanged on the phone after getting annoyed.

how did you get the dealer to call you back?

I just told them if they couldn't help me get the car to the dealer I would not be able to get the work done and would just have to drive round in a dangerous car. To that they said let me speak to your local dealer and get them to call you back.

Got too lucky with the E93 recall. They've recalled my F15 X5, taken it apart and there's no parts in the UK or Germany so could be without it for a minimum of 6 weeks

They have given me a hire car but they don't do like for like so I have an Alfa Stelvio for the foreseeable!

Highly unlikely they will do so due to chance of bricking a module, dealer has to update whole car at once. If they do will likely be on condition you accept costs of any failures. That said I did do it on my old car (insisted alarm was updated as it had out of date version, they had to update entire car but only charged me for 30mins hook up/ take down time!)

+1 on that. My dealer said they advise not carrying out software updates unless it's to cure a specific problem. Reason being they've found the 'update' tends to change things the owner never wanted changed in the first place!

Mine went in for the heater blower job this morning. They gave me an almost new X4 to drive while it was being done. My friend said "it will make you realise how bad your car is". It made me realise I've been under appreciating this old lady. It did not feel worn out at all when I got back into it. And after driving that X4 I realised this E90 is a nicer car to drive. I just had stopped appreciating it. I guess driving it every day and not having access to other cars I started paying too much attention to every little thing that feels a bit worn and didn't realise how good it still is in comparison to some other cars.

Anyone still getting recall letters? My mrs had one today for the blower harness on her 15 year old 1 series!
