Didn't realize WGs were moved, but, yep, if you closed them too much, could cause it if they can't open enough regardless of command anymore. If that's the case, your throttle plate is probably mostly closed a lot of the time. Get the logger and see what's up.

Have you looked in your ECU box to see if you have a JB4 (or one of the earlier versions) installed?
If you have a JB4 installed, with the ignition on or engine running, you can push the steering wheel radio controls (volume down and channel down) simultaneously and it will make the center of your dash solid orange. To exit the JB4 control menu if it pops up, push the volume down button. For more info, just search youtube for JB4 controls or go to the Burger Tuning website. |

I think they are where they need to be because based on a video on how to adjust/replace wastegates arms the guy shows how he gets them to remain open until you reach that 5.5-6 Hg point, which is supposed to be stock. I adjusted them enough to close at that amount. Before that they were so loose from wear slack that they never really seated no matter how much vacuum you applied.

Thank you! I am proud of getting this thing back together and having it run so well.

Using the Read Codes function in the MHD app will tell you if there's an MHD tune installed. And you can do this without buying any licenses.

I've had experience with all three options on both N54 and N55 and I don't have a strong opinion on which is best. If all you want is an easy to install tune, go Flash only with MHD. If you want extra features like in-dash gauges, bluetooth monitoring/logging (including iOS support), extra safety features, etc., go with JB4 + BEF. You can also run JB4 in gauge only mode that lets you run the flash tune but with those extra features like in-dash gauges and bluetooth. Personally, on my N55 I'm running the MHD E30 map with the JB4 for gauges and it's great. On my last car (N54) I ran all 4 OTS map variants at various times and they were all great. Ultimately, it's up to you what works best for your wallet, your car, and your personal preferences.

Just need to log and see what it's doing. You (and we) don't know what may be from tune or something else. If you're running high boost because of physically limited control rather than defined tune, you'll want to get it sorted. Either tune to match the new minimum boost you're actually running or fix the WGs to allow the level/control of the DME. |

Okay cool, in that case you can probably go with MHD only. Just be aware that you can't have the tablet connected to the car and charge it at the same time, unless you find a tablet with 2 USB ports (rare) or one with wireless charging (not cheap).

I use JB4 + MHD. JB4 controls boost and has some additional safety measures whereas MHD just controls timing. Engine runs exceptionally smooth through the powerband.
I'm a big fan of the JB4 bluetooth kit, but you obviously need JB4 for this. MHD has gauges in their app, however this requires a wired OBD connection to an Android device. With the JB4 bluetooth connection, I just throw my iPhone on the vent clip and open up the app. It's shockingly very responsive for a bluetooth connection, there is no lag whatsoever. I also like that I don't need to leave an Android tablet in my car.

For my initial runs around town to break this thing in I have been using the good old non pro version (free) of the Torque app and a cheapo Bluetooth OBD2 connector. It is relaying everything to my phone which I stand on its side with my case jammed up against the IDrive screen on the dash. That is how I am watching temperature, etc. so far. The MHD app won't do that without a cable?

The other good thing about JB4 + MHD is I can turn my tune down to stock levels within seconds. I do this pretty much every time I let someone else drive my car, I only trust one of my buddies driving it with full boost
