Just wait until the new M3/4 with Awd and an auto gearbox are 2 tons. The 911 is still very light and it’s prepared for the hybrid which other cars aren’t as well visualized. |

For what it's worth 488's are more like 3,400 and Pistas are around 3,250 and Ferrari's stupid dry weight for the F8 is 2,932, so it should be around 80-100 pounds lighter than a Pista once you add some fuel, coolant and oil. Dry weight. Idiots.

Here's the 992 S vs. the rivals. Like Jeremy Clarkson, I can't seem to get the whole Porsche thing. There's a rumor that the next 911 will be mid engine.

So you haven’t driven a NA 9,000 rpm screamer GT car. Like I said go drive one at Porsche Driving Experience in LA, right off the 405. 911 turbo is the last 911 model in the range I would get.

Do the GT3 experience at Porsche Experience Center LA, then come back to this thread. M cars are no comparison.

I get feeling underwhelmed by some of the other Porsche models but it would be like driving a 330i and saying you don't get the whole BMW thing...

Well to be fair, the GT models are their top of the line versions. Not sure if you can generalize how a GT3 drives to the entire gazillion 911 models.
I agree with statement on the engine, the e90M engine is better than the 991.1 Carrera engine (I haven’t driven any other M or Older 911 engines). GT3 engine is a different beast but it better be given the price differential. As for the current GT3RS, only comes with automatic transmission. |

GT cars are a different world than M cars. Even a base 911 is a better drive and more dynamic than M at its best and that’s Porsche entry level. Porsches all feel special. M cars fee mundane and pedestrian by comparison and it has by and large always been like this and that and the gap widens.

M cars feel special and so do 911s - they are a completely different experience. sorry, but I like driving my M4 more than my 997.1 c2s, except when on a tight winding road - that's when the 911, being lighter and smaller is a bit more fun, but not by much. |

Porsches current line up continues to be some of, if not the best, cars on the market. Last edited by Funf6cyl; 04-25-2019 at 02:39 PM.. |

A CPO F8X can easily be had for $45-$55k depending on what you're grabbing. In the Porsche range, you probably can't do much better than a pre-owned Cayman for that price and I'd take the F8X in that case. Even a pre-owned 718 GTS is going to cost you $70k+. Would I prefer a Cayman GTS or any 991 911 over a F8X? Yes...but you're talking 40% more for the prior and almost double the cost for the latter. Point is, M still wins on value, and price point does play a role in these debates.
