Yeah, seems pretty official.

I feel like he got the short end of the stick this year. Onwards and upwards for someone else though!

Finally.
According to TacticalRab (gossip youtuber), the place in the WCC also determines to a very large extend how much bonus all the employees get. According to him, all Ferrari employees got a €14.000 bonus for the team coming in 2nd! So imagine how much McLaren employees got.
And he also speculates that RB personnel not getting their bonusses might affect team moral. I can imagine if you have 1 driver that is underperforming thàt much as what Checo did. I mean last year, the difference between Max and Checo was also huge, but they were still #1 WCC (Max alone would've gotten the WCC back then). But this year.....no team has that much of a difference. So you wonder, if they didn't fire Perez, what the motivation within the team would've been next year....

Regarding who should follow up Checo.....I think Yuki might be the better choice. I mean chances are that who ever you place next to Max, he will be demolished in terms of performance. I think Yuki will be able to cope better with that. He knows this is his chance, he knows how good Max is. Give LAW a year at VCARB to become a more mature driver and give him a spot in 2026 when Honda is also gone.

I wouldn't hold my breath on Yuki, Lawson, or Hadjar performing any better. Especially if they continue with crappy car development. Only time will tell. The end of year tire testing was pretty telling... Yuki in Checo's car, P17. Hadjar in Max's car, 15. Liam in his RB, 13, Iwasa in Yuki's RB, 6th. We don't really know all the specifics of fuel, etc. but I'd be surprised if these weren't all out quali type attempts, especially as RedBull is trying to figure out driver setups.

Max is an incredible driver and putting that RedBull way higher up in the points than any other non-world-champion level driver would, imo.

It's such a fast and clean exit.

Honestly Perez should have been gone after 2023 season...but money talked.

RB19 is the most dominate F1 car in history...Max wins 19 races, while Perez only managed 9 podiums.

I hope it's Yuki. I reviewed the tire test results, and it said that the tire compounds were unknown. So Yuki could have been on Softs, mediums or Hards. No one even knows the setup or fuel level.

Here's hoping it's not Lawson.

Affirmative.

The die is cast.

Lead question: which driver has a real potential to offer better bonuses for the RBR team than Perez in 2024 and who can truly contribute in potentially getting RBR 2025 WCC #1 or 2025 WCC #2 ? Colapinto or Bottas would be my choice for 2025.

What bargaining power does Honda still have (moving to Aston Martin in 2026) to get Yuki inside the now vacant RBR seat ? Yuki's anger management issue is notorious.

Lawson seems a little too confident to get the RBR seat and his disrespect for Perez by giving him the bird on track was noted by RBR. He needs an ego check.

Sainz got his escape clause to move out, if RBR or Mercedes would still offer him a seat. But he's likely burnt because of ignoring Ferrari team orders. And he wants too much cash (punching above his weight).

Bottas as a dark horse ? Could have been an interesting option, but according to Bottas, some folks at RBR don't want him.

Also Colapinto would have been an interesting option (also for marketing purposes: becomes increasingly popular in South America), but Vowles & C° ask way too much money to let him go. Maybe a "Perez for Colapinto" swap between RBR and Williams ?

Gasly and Albon have been demoted by RBR in the past. Ricciardo is out too.
