Individual code clearing is not possible...both in the case of the BT software (I can confirm this) and the GT1 (most likely but someone confirm this).

GT1 can clear individual codes. I just did it at a friends shop before my clutch replacement.

Interesting. I vam quite sure the BT can not...it's an all or nothing. I wonder of that's something the boys over there can fix, or if that's technically impossible.

I believe you can reset codes per module, and there are quite few of them. But if for instance if you have multiple codes on the engine module and you reset, it resets them all. You could still however have codes remaining from other modules.
Edit: With the BT Scanner |

Then again if you engine is malfunctioning, the legit code should represent itself again at next startup would be my assumption. |

Hmm, I have had this issue, had a tuner code along with some HPFP codes. Cleared them before I went for a warranty fix to the dealer.
Dealer denied the warranty as they cannot claim warranty with BMW Munich without a code present in the DME. They told me that I had to wait till the code is present again. Now I'm driving without my tune, but somehow it looks like the HPFP issue does not occure under less "extreme" / stock configuration. after a long chat, they now gonna keep the car for some days and they will analyse the DME in detail, to see if they can find any issue in the shadow / detailed info logs from the DME.

Rut-roh shaggy.. Hope this works out for ya, but it doesn't look good on the Ponderosa if they are expressing that much interest in your car. Keep us informed.

no, not necessarily
the first fix is to simply replace the holder for that bulb so it doesnt trip the code thinking it has a bad connection. Reprogram is not required for this $10 dollar fix. So if the weather warms up, and that stupid holder expands a little and makes a good contact again, maybe you wont have to do anything at all. Otherwise, a reprogram is not required, just a tiny little piece to be replaced

Sorry guys I wrote that response in a rush out the door.
Since I first got the car, I had an error indicating I needed new brake pads, it came on about 10 days after I got the car, supposedly its a pretty common issue with the brake wear sensor. The brake light is always on, and I have tried clearing the light based on instructions on these forums, but with no luck. Supposedly the brake wear sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. I dont really care if the sensor is bad, I just want the damm light off. I know when I need new brakes, just by visually inspecting them. I am doing the brakes this weekend myself, would be nice to clear that brake light though!! Ive also had another issue come up recently, the car tells me a light bulb is out, and based on the code, its a loose connection on the rear light stalk, I think this is what Vudoo is talking about, still I dont understand how he knows based on my above post???? You must be psychic! These issues are so minor that I don't feel like returning the car to the dealer for a fix. Not worth my time to take out the Procede.

I had the same problem. I took it to the dealership and they reprogrammed my car to reflect the current brakepads usage instead. that was 10k miles ago and since then it has been fine. So this is beyond of clearing a code. And for those that are worry about the the PROcede clearing out all codes shouldnt be worried, i bet it can be disabled, and if there is anything wrong with the car, I bet it could be reproducible after you remove the procede.

After that, just update firmware and install the new user software. The new software will have, among other things, a "Clear DME codes" option in the pulldown Comms menu. We should also have additional options for resetting adaption values as well as logging a variety of useful DME channels (knock status, individual cyl ignition advance, actual throttle opening, etc,.) Pretty cutting edge stuff. The PROcede basically becomes a data logger, diagnostic tool and a user adjustable tune all in one ![]() Cheers, shiv Last edited by OpenFlash; 03-09-2009 at 02:18 AM.. |

At this point, I'm hesitant to change anything with respect to power sourcing. Now that we are going into the CANbus system, using a stable power source is more important than ever. We can go for the patch connector set-up for the green connector. But it turns out there are two different kinds of green connectors used and we haven't been able to verify the point (production date) at which the switchover occurred. It's something we may revisit later. But for now, CANbus integration features are #1 priority.
