Yeah, looks like their site (http://abtech2.com/twowayRemote.htm) is down right now (12/26 7:40pm est). HOwever I was able to access the site a couple of days agao so I'm sure it's just a temporary techinical problem. Report back and let us all know how the LCD remote works for you. The ijet/monster solution looks like it could be the best alternate to the BMW solution right now.

by the way, has anyone else noticed that if you use the iJet remote with a Nano, that it blocks the 3.5mm jack? This bugs if you had the nano in your backpack and wanted to change tracks using the remote if it were in your pocket or something. Is there a way around this?

http://www.amazon.com/iJet-Bottom-Do...&s=electronics I'm not as concerned with the headphone jack as much as I'm concerned with the intermittant performance.

Same here, the iJet has been working intermittant for me. I have already asked for an RMA at theistore.com and will return it this weekend. Either I'll keep on trying to look around for other gadgets, or I will have to go with the OEM MOST iPod interface. |

I found new product
Hi
What yo think about this type of adapter, did any EU guys tryed it? http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/Co...M_iPod_Adapter iConnect-FM iPod Adapter FM Modulator iPod Adapter Overview The Connects2 iConnect-FM is a universal iPod adapter enabling you to connect your iPod to any car radio with an aerial input connection. Whats more it will charge your iPod while connected. The Connects2 iConnect-FM plays high quality music from your iPod through your existing car entertainment system. There is no longer a need for cassette adapters, cigarette lighter chargers or illegal FM transmitters - you can start enjoying crisp, clean CD quality music with iPod charging from your existing car entertainment system. Imagine having access to all of your music on your iPod at the touch of a button. The Connects2 iConnect-FM is an ideal option if... There is no Connects2 iPod adapter available for your factory fitted or aftermarket radio. The changer port on your radio is already in use by another device. There is no Audio Line-In on your radio. Your radio does not have changer control. You are driving a leased or classic car. The iConnect-FM Modulator transforms the audio signal from your iPod to CCIR standard Stereo FM radio signal and this enables the iPod to transmit sound through the cars FM radio. You then store and play your iPod on one of your radio presets giving you easy access. |

I just got my iJet and tried it out for a couple of days. I have not had the intermittent problems that some have mentioned - having said that, I have noticed that I do have to 'wake the unit up' when it has not been used for a while, by pressing the display button.
The biggest pro is that you can hand the remote to someone else, and let them control the songs. My son loves this - (may be a good or a bad thing). The biggest con that I have seen is that the display is really small, and almost unreadable in bright light (at least to my 45 year old eyes). The jury is still out, in my mind. I am going to try it for a week, and see how it goes. Paul |

Thanks for the post on the iJet LCD Paul! Post an update once you've had a chance to play with the iJet LCD remote more. Does it limit you in regards to playlists or songs? Is it difficult to access or find tracks from a large database of songs on the remote? Is the unit fast when scrolling through and selecting tracks?
Thanks! |

Here is another thought on an alternative to MOST ipod:
Could you just put all of your MP3s on a couple of DVDs? I imagine a nav system could read the disk but what about a non-nav radio? Does the Logic 7 system read DVDs? If not, it may be interesting to price out a multidisk changer that reads DVDs....not sure how it would stack up in terms of pros/cons and price to the $500 MOST ipod solution. If anyone has any experience, thoughts or expertise with this alternate solution, please post. Thanks! |

I just got the early version of the iJet (the one that goes on top of the iPod) and using it with a Belkin recharger and a 12" cable from the Belkin to the Aux port in the center console. The iJet seemed to be a little inconsistent until I read the instructions. You need to plug something into the headphone jack on the iJet because it uses that as an antenna. I just plugged in another 12" stereo cable there and it works much better. Don't know if this applies to the bottom dock style iJet or not.

My son loves it, because I can hand him the remote, and he can change the music - he thinks that it is the best thing ever. I'm not so thrilled. The biggest problem is that the screen is virtually unreadable at a glance. It is so small that you really need to stop and look at it (at least with my eyes). It is a little bit better at night then in the day (because you can see with the backlight better), but it is still pretty small. Scrolling is pretty fast, if you hold down the button, but fast doesn't do you any good, if you can't see the list as it goes by. It also seems to be having a problem syncing with one of my playlists - not sure why yet - I have not had a chance to play with it enough to figure it out. All in all - If it had a bigger, more readable screen then I would give it an 8 out of 10. With the current screen, I'd give it a 5. Pretty good functionality, but not particularly easy to select things while driving. Still in seach of a better overall solution. Paul |

Thanks for the update! I called IJet a couple of weeks ago and the tech guy told me that this year they are hoping to release a new version of the LCD remote. The new version has an updated chip and is suppose to show 4 lines of text instead of just two. I don't know if this means the text will be bigger or if it will just be 4 lines of the same small text. The discouraging thing I heard is that it sounds like the unit will be targeted at the home-based market so the tech guy was not sure if the connection to the ipod would have a pass thru which we would need to be able to connect into the charger and aux input. Hopefully we'll be able to discover a solution that doesn't limit your playlists/songs, has true shuffle capabilities and provides a way to easily locate songs. Ideally if BMW could work the bugs out of the current ipod solution it would be excellent to have the BMW MOST advantages of seeing the song titles on the radio and controling the ipod with the steering wheel. Although it's still a bit on the pricey side for what you are getting. |

I just got the Ten Tech Flexible Dock (picture earlier in the thread). It is easy to read use while driving. No interface (other than the IPODs) to go through. The only downside is that it is in plain sight, so it needs to be removed when parking in a public place, but I can live with that. Paul |

5th Generation iPod...
For those of us with 5th generation iPods (i.e., video), has anyone tried this yet:
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/tuneflex/ You can use it with the AirClick at the same time.. supposedly... just not sure it has a lineout.. it says it does at the base. http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/airclickdock/ How do people connect an AirClick to the 5th Gen iPod when charger in place otherwise? This looks like a good solution if we can get it to squeeze in the armrest. I'm gonna give it a try. $72 for both... free shipping... no tax.

ipod cables
for those that are using the monster cable (like me) the audio cable that you use - no one has put down how long a cable they like. Tried the 8 inch one and it was way to short. As the monster cable can stretch several ft tried a 6ft audio cable and it made the center console messy and hard to take the ipod out when your driving and put back. Cut the six ft cable and I like it at just over 2 ft in length. It is neat, you can feed it thru the center of the monster cable, and it makes it easy for the driver or passenger to use the ipod IMO.
I'm not sure I want the bmw setup yet. I'd like to see it include an option for digital radio. Otherwise in a year or so will all be updating again when we want the newer radios. |

BTW... I got the TuneFlex and AirClick. Works just fine. Best solution I've found so far. I've tried a few. Total cost was $90... AirClick, TuneFlex and 3 foot cable ($20).

OK - I got the MOST iPod interface...
My 330 was in the shop for the BWMAssist recall and I had them install the MOST iPod interface. At first blush, it seems pretty good. Sound quality is equal to the AUX solution and iPod navigation is WAY better. Is it worth the $'s? That is a personal decision.
