When my wife kicked me out of the house in 2000, I lived in my Vehicross for 8 weeks. I folded the back seats down and it wasn't too bad. I had to park overnight at the forest preserve until the county sherriff kicked me out. I guess men were getting molested there. I would usually shower at a truck stop and I ate all my meals out. I managed to save a lot of money during those 8 weeks and then my wife took me back and she took all the money I had saved. My kids said that the Vehicross never smelled the same afterwards.

Haha. Holy christ. Maybe it's because I've been drinking, but god damn that was funny.

I lived in an APT when i bought my BMW and always got shit on the forums when I posted pictures. It doesnt bother me though. I dont need to please everyone else. I chose to live in an apartment because I move around alot being in the military and am single. So I did'nt want to invest in a house when I would move away for a few years or rent one when I was perfectly happy in an apartment. I dont think it matters really. Do what you want to make yourself happy and fuck everyone's elses opinion.

Yeah people really don't get it when it comes to the military. When I was single in the Corps, there was no way I was buying a house unless it was one to retire into. You're bounced around the country and world so much that there's no point.... Plus, when you're in, you learn to live with much less than someone who hasn't been through the military experience.

I think its been said before in the thread, but some apts in certain zip codes cost substantially more than most houses.

Case in point - My wife and I lived in the upper west side of manhattan for 5 years after we got married. Had her old BMW(new at the time).

Lived in a nice full service 1 bedroom apt.

Not going to go into what the condo cost or what we made selling it, but it was the best real estate investment I've made so far. I wish I bought something bigger in the same bulding in 2002.

Back on point - why question what ppls motives are?

Because some people are so insecure with themselves they have to make sure they have more material things than others.

Ive read some of what you guys say here and I agree. I am by myself in VA I rent I have no need or do I want a house right now.
What does just make me think is when I used to see people in Jersey getting food stamps, welfare, and all this gov. aid. Then leave and jump in range rovers and mercs and such.

Didn't ODB do some shit like that back in the day just to prove how broken the system is?

He did it on a MTV special. Piled the family in a limo and drove to the welfare system.

I believe his statement was something along; "Who's gonna pass up free money?" That proved just how brokent he system is, and it's still just as fucked up.

As messed up as it was, you just couldn't hate ODB. Dude was crazy, but in a likeable sort of way.

Yes sir ODB went with Kurt Loder in a limo to pick up his welfare check. Things like this upset me. Not only did I bust my ass to get my car but my tax dollars pay for people like this.

I try not to judge people on anything, honestly. I don't care what they're driving or what kind of house they live in or how much money they make or what kind of jewelry they wear. It just seems petty and not worth the mental effort. What's the payoff? Live and let live.

You could live in a mansion and drive a Geo Metro, or you could live in a tent under the overpass and drive a brand new koenigsegg. Life is all about priorities, and its up to you what yours are... Just my 2cents

^ I think there's a guy who did exactly that. He sold all of his belongings to buy a (then) new (2004?) Lamborghini Gallardo and basically lived out of it for the next couple of years, racking up something like 100,000 miles.

Jalopnik had a story on it.

I knew a friend (lost touch with him over the years) who is the very subject of this thread. He lived in an apartment. Was a franchise business owner. And he drove around in a Lotus Esprit Turbo (current model at the time) as his daily driver. His apartment complex didn't have covered parking or a garage. He didn't care. I never went into why he chose to live in an apartment but as you can see he probably could afford to buy a house if he wanted to.

Everyone has their own priorities/personal choices to make in life

Not sure why anyone else cares so long as they dont expect everyone else to fund their lifestyle.....
