IMO, organic discs are the way to go unless you depend on going with bigger turbos or nitrous.
It's not only about the material but about the clamping force of the pressure plate as well. Most aftermarket clutches come with a hevier duty pressure plate. All 3 ACT clutches for the 335 use the same heavy duty pressure plate for the organic disc, 6 puck and 4 puck disc.

so when are we going to see manufacturers put together such a strong pressure plate, that the pedal force is retarded, and it starts wiping out thrust bearings on the crank?
i remember a guy that brought me a 4 puck clutch and pressure plate for his 69 corvette. it was a standing bet that you couldnt go down a street with 10 stop lights and hold the clutch in at all the stop lights....lol |

So if my fx400 kit (PP, disk and lighrweight fly) is warrantied as it should be you're saying to stick with it but if not go with a full face organic (e.g. ACT)?
If this does end up being a PP problem as i think it is I'd be ok with putting it in again but if the ceramic pucks are too weak/inappropriate for daily driving (wear wise, i'm fine with engagement) and an organic/Kevlar full face is better I'd go with that...thoughts? |

That is not wheel torque though. In addition, if you want the PP with enough clamping load on an organic from ACT then you will have a pedal that feels like a ton of bricks.

Car's putting down around 460wtq right now (actually, its putting down zero at the moment )...i'm thinking organic might be better as most of the time I'm daily driving the car and don't have race gas to run over 17psi safely on the street with meth...at the strip I will want to crank it up all the way with race gas and meth and probably hit max 550wtq but I'm at the track maybe 5-6 times a year, if that, due to a crazy work schedule...if I have another ceramic give up on me this quickly it wouldn't be pretty

its spouting off bad technical practices to people that have little or no knowledge of their vehicles. -- you can (for your own benefit) lay out all your certs and quals.. -- i worked with a couple of guys that acted the same way, said some of the same things i hear on this forum. and you know what? it doesnt affect me, or my performance in the least. when you have matured to a point of fully understanding what i'm talking about, then we can sit down and actually have a technical conversation. 35yrs in the industry -- im still learning something everyday .... but i guess thats just me |

I've spoken to CM (Luis) just now and he was very reasonable after having received my damaged clutch for inspection...I told him I'll be running an organic clutch in the meantime and give them enough time to figure out why their CM ceramic failed prematurely. I told them even if they sent me a full replacement tonight I wouldn't put it on as I'd worry about it going out on me again the same way and that'd really make me start hating this the car due to repetitive costs involved.. He said they'll take a few days to figure it out and fix it. Honest customer service so far..they didn't jump the gun to speculate installer/user error as many other companies do once they get your money..
In the meantime I'm putting in brand new ACT street clutch thanks to u know who you are it should hold well enough for a DD with upgraded turbos at 17psi pump gas and meth and last long enough..I'll use it with my recently resurfaced DMF |

its clear from your subsequent comments you are learned to a point, but the greater picture eludes you by virtue of your own thought process. nothing can change that, but failure... and sonny -- i bet on those odds anyday.. cuz i used to be just like you did the big boys bully you in school?? cuz you sure have a ax to grind and serious chip on your shoulder ... take a couple of xanax, and start to enjoy life .... and look again... i didnt start this, and if you intend to get the last word --- you can have it.. |
