I have a friend who has just got his E92 330d M Sport with 6FL and guess what he has no cable!

He's been given a USB to USB cable though!

I mailed mine last week & they just said that it does not come with a cable.

I'll mail them back with the US pdf & stories of other dealers supplying them & see what they say.

Will keep you posted on my (assumed lack of!) progress

I delivered a new one yesterday, which had ipod prep, and in the centre armrest it had a little pouch velcro'd under the lid, for the ipod, and a lead from it to the USB - very neat

Here's a question: Does the 6FL work with the voice control?

If the voice control is clever enough to do speech-to-text for radio stations & navigation input, can it do it for my ipod?

Or is that hoping for too much?

My dealer just called to say that hopefully my car will be arriving this weekend. He said they'd spoken to BMW UK who are not prepared to cover the cost of the cable, predictably because it is a generic USB port for which they couldn't possibly provide every kind of cable for all devices! So how come they are in the US ?!? I will be giving him a call to discuss.

Good luck on the cable front ... I wouldn't expect bmw to pay for it ... but I would think it fair for the dealer to stump up if he told you that the USB would be compatible with your ipod without any additional bits.

It's not a case of having a cable for every type of device.

It's only ipods that need a special cable and BMW know this - which is why they have developed a unique cable to solve the problem - included for free in the US.

I failed miserably, he wasn't having any of it and I can't recall what the exact words were.... so I'm paying for it. And the blacklines fitted...about 20 quid more than the "discounted" cotswold price to supply them but I'd rather have them on the car when I pick it up. I've asked for no dealer stickers in it too, and to leave the original stock lights in the boot. Hopefully they can manage all that
