Anyone in SoCal have these installed recently? Called up Mike's Muffler and he said it's a no-go to alter the cats in any way. Really want these installed ASAP.

you're not altering the cats, you're altering the pipes.

I have these pipes and I also went to Mike as he's a good friend and I'm a long time customer. He still didn't install them. He's a good Christian man and he said it would remove the cats which make it illegal for him to do. Muffler shops can get in major trouble doing that and receive large fines. He directed to a mechanic down the street. The mechanic did a decent job. Try LTMW or shop around different muffler shops. One is bound to break a rule or two.

Yeah he recommended Ivan. Can I ask how much he charged? I called and over the phone he mentioned $150, which is crazy expensive. Want to pay less than $100 for something like this.

it depends on if they need to anything else then bolt on, mine was just an inch too long, so shop had to cut the pipe.

but i woundt pay over $100, 60-70 should be fair for bolt on. only takes 30min or less to do it.

also with many shop, all you need to do is sign offroad waiver and they will do it for you.

I agree with jc5988, hong. Mike just doesn't do that period. And my price was a little over $100. Ask LT and see what he says or try the other muffler shops around there. Just look for a performance shop and I'm sure they'll do it. I tell you that once you get it done, you definitely will not regret it. It's a great sounding race pipe. I'm saving for a tune and headers, then I'm done.

They lay charges on mechanics for doing cat deletes? Wow, thats tight. What if you just wanted to build a dedicated track car? Jeez. Goddamn tree huggers lol

Btw has anyone who already did secondary cat deletes bought these race pipes? I wonder if these pipes will make much difference for me since I've already removed secondary cats. I'm sure the extra mandrel bent piping will help air flow. But if its not something I'm gonna really feel or hear, I duno if I wanna spend the extra money

these pipe feels like it has thicker pipe wall then stock, i think it kept away some of the raspy note. never did cat delete so cant really cant give you comparison, all i know is it sounds fantastic.

Will visit Mike's this afternoon and see what he says. I wanted to do what another member did and hollow out the 2ndary cat but keep the cats. Or if I don't hollow out the 2ndary cat, what sound difference there will be.

I can not verify, but was told it would sound better with the 2nd cats gutted. It sounds good enough to me with piping through the gutted cats though. I believe air flow is better with one size piping vs the widen/narrow effect with just gutting.

FOR EVERYONE CONSIDERING THIS:
Illustration is assuming you already have PE which deletes the resonator.

Looks like I'm doing this at Mike's tomorrow. He has to "modify" it since I'm keeping the cats. He should said it should sound better since I'm going from 2" to 2.5" with these pipes. Total cost $125 since it requires some additional work to keep the cats.

At the muffler shop getting it installed. Pretty involving and more than I thought. If I knew it would have been like this, I wouldn't done this mod. Hope it turns out well.

Anyone know of a vendor that has the AFE pipe in stock? I have looked a couple places with no luck.

Thanks

I bought mine on Amazon. Most likely not in stock. Had to wait about 10 days before it shipped. I wasn't happy about that since it showed in-stock. And it shipped directly from Afe in Corona, CA. Received it in one day after it shipped. To make sure just contact them or give them a call.
