Status on my down pipe install for others: I have removed DPF and reinstalled motor mount and engine bracket. Currently, trying to line up down pipe with turbo flange and SCR inlet flange. 2deer feeding me lots of tips. My kid has 3 different things today that are keeping from wrenching on car. I'm at her voice lesson as we speak. One tip that I discovered. To get the O2 sensors off, you need a 22 mm wrench. It kept slipping off. I tried crescent wrench too with same result. I got an O2 sensor socket with crows foot. So I put rachet drive on it and still needed a cheater bar. Lots of busted nuckles yesterday getting sensors/probes off so blood was payment for success. We're getting there though. |

TDI, I don't think Jess can answer this one as this Ecotune pipe specific. The forward large fitting that requires 22 mm hex is giving me trouble screwing back into new down pipe. There is a linkage above the pipe that won't let the body of the sensor align with this large threaded hole.
I'm considering unbolting everything (vband and aft flange bolts) to buy room to install this sensor. I'm unsure if the 3" long sensor body will then not allow proper alignment at turbo and aft flanges. It is either this or have to cork the hole with a bolt. TDI, did you encounter similar problem with this probe? I believe it is the forward O2 sensor. If not, it is large like an O2 sensor is. Thx |

What I did do was aligned the midpipe to the DPF first, with bolts loosely attached, then got everything else loosely attached, then did the v-band most of the way, then tightened the remaining bolts/attachments, and finished tightening the v-band. If you do the v-band first it's quite likely a lot of other things won't align properly. Hope this helps.

Okay, I got'er done tonight in terms if midpipe bolts, O2 sensors and other ports with sensors, and V-band. My approach was to first connect the front O2 sensor, then the back 2 bolts at the mid pipe flange. It was a PITA to get the 2 bolts lined up because that front O2 sensor body was pushing up against its interference point. I used a scissor jack to torque the flange around to line up the holes. As the jack fell accidentally, the bolts slammed into their holes and wham it was all aligned like I needed. I know that didn't make much sense. I didn't torque the mid pipe flange too much as I wanted to get the v band on next. It went on fine too. That O2 sensor is right up against its interference point though. Hope my trial and error will help some of remainder of the 10.

I don't recall having that much alignment issue. I'm tempted to go look/take a pic of the O2 sensor area and see how much clearance I have. One other thing I had done was loosen the mid pipe connection from the trans pan area so that downpipe/midpipe connection had more flexibility in positioning things. From your description above it sounds like you had the midpipe pretty fixed in place?

Nope, I used maximum flexibility this time around. I think that O2 bung got welded with not enough outboard angle on it. I hope it is just mine and not all 10 if them. Your proto.may have been better in this regard

I'm passed the unforeseen difficulties now. It should be routine from here forward. USPS didn't deliver the silicone hose yesterday. Hopefully today or I have to wait. It was due yesterday and that was 4 days from Boulder, CO

WONT happen amigo Stan and I dont see things as a marketing level, his product I might say is good but his dwelling in business is somewhat different from my perspective, I tried to be as pro as possible BUT when he went on paper to say I was harrasing him I had to pull out my TRUMP card and put him on the street. I contacted him back in 2011 via email and of course he forgot who i was and showed everyone i was no fluke(btw he has not written anymore since then), I even sent him a pm on the EPA issue which he ignored and never answered and I hv the pm's to prove it, he begged for me to apologize for using the word SHADDY!! So to say Im going to use his product NO WAY Jose. I got my downpipe done here in the USA handmade!! and if you look at both pipes side by side you will see which product seems to look better send me a txt message and I will send you both pics and you decide. I started this thread for EVERYONE, I congratulate TDi in having the cojones to send his DPF to STAN but I will not lower myself so that i can get something, not worth it to me. i have my tuner flying in next month and we will tune my car accordingly, so it took more time than Ecotune oh well, at least I learned alot from ALL OF YOU and yes Stan included
