Also, its not a good idea to use the trigger wire from the cheap chinese emulators, because as you say, they don't always work right. As for "where do you think it's getting power from?" Like i said in an earlier post, use a switched 12 ignition from the car and use the "trigger" to trigger a relay (or not), you could use the reverse lights to trigger a relay to provide power). All i meant was, don't rely on the emulator to trigger the camera, just use it to provide the can bus commands to the cic. However, if my post have caused confusion, my apologies.

Fair enough, you're probably right that it's smarter to use 12v from one of the reverse lights. Relying on the emulator to only provide commands via can bus is probably your best bet

Yes switches to the screen with parking sensors and the spot where the picture should be but no picture, maybe 1 in 5 times the very first time you put it in reverse after starting the car, I think it does't power up the camera as the signal to tell it to put it on the reverse camera/parking sensor screen works and switches.

I bought another emulator but it still didn't work. I've checked again today and I found some problems: I used this diagram: I've used the "euro" wiring and set RVC_CIC to wert_21 to accomodate. I noted that the I'd got the CAN high and low wires reversed. In addition, it didn't look like one of the CAN wires was connected properly. Fixed it up, coded it again and... We have a menu when shifting to reverse! No picture unfortunately, but I'm guessing that the emulator isn't supplying power to the camera - I've seen before this can be unreliable? It's a shame as it stays on screen when you move out of reverse until you move away - but if I connect to the reversing lights it'll cut the power in this scenario. Maybe a switched live (i.e. maybe the emulators power?) would be a better source? Is there a "safe" way of putting the car in reverse to test it with an autobox, without running myself over? I can't work it out as you have to hold it on the breaks. In a manual you could just leave it in reverse with the ignition on... |

In my case, there was no ground on the camera - I'd tapped into boot light but that didn't work properly. I used a ground from the rear lights and... Not sure why I wasn't getting any voltage on the camera trigger wire originally, but clearly I am now. I've fitted a couple of reversing cameras in my time but never had this much hassle. But it works now! tl;dr First emulator probably bad, passthrough loom definately so Second emulator probably wired incorrectly (CAN+- swapped) Ground camera wired up incorrectly. |

^^ indeed, fstool is only any use for loading FSC into the cic.
if you are having problems, then it can be only one of a few things. 1: the cic is not latest version of firmware 2: the pins into the cic are not the same as the RVC coding (wert21/wert23) 3: the emulator is not triggering correctly (or is faulty) 4: the camera is not being powered (or is faulty) 5: the coding in the cic is wrong. That's pretty much it. Do not use the power on trigger wire to power the camera, they are notorious for not supplying the correct voltage. Only use the emulator to CAN trigger the cic into displaying the backup screen

Hello ccfj1 thanks to your post on tv, I have adapted the dvbt2 series g on my e92 everything works perfectly so I used this configuration
TV 12 pin plug (x14454) 1: power 12: gnd 2: video + 7: shield 8: video - cic single plug 18: video + 27: shield 28: video - Coding: code tv option to car and then make sure you edit the cic confit so that the TV option is: - TVM_VARIANTEN tvm_dvb_t = activ TV is wert = 21 this selects the correct input pins for the tv video input. (18,27,28) I want to add the emulator for the rear view camera, which pinout should I use? how should i change the coding ?? Last edited by Iscrazzeid; 01-08-2021 at 05:03 AM.. |

Hi,
if you also want the backup camera then make sure this is set to wert 23 RVC_CIC wert_23 Use the camera video input pins. (21,23,24) Set the other things in the cic as per MACRO_PDC aktiv MACRO_REARVIEW aktiv MACRO_L6_PARKMENU aktiv PDC_DIRECTION vertikal BTW, did you need to update the firmware on you TV module for it to work on the e92?? (I did).

Not sure, I'm using the OEM camera and TRVSC module, I only use the emulator to trigger the cic to go into camera mode
