I have an appointment to replace the pump in a couple weeks and I’m wondering if I should just stop driving the car until then.
I drove my car long distances for a few months with a bad HPFP. Limp mode would only kick in when I gave it too much throttle. Then I'd shut off the engine and restart. You can drive it safely in limp mode, even at freeway speeds, unless you're losing coolant or overheating. The car is just painfully sluggish in limp mode, and may not do well on steep hills.
