Have some separate questions. I've read about the DDE having to be tuned to account for back pressure once the DPF is removed. Is this only if it's gutted? I figured if you totally remove the DPF and went from a downpipe right into the exhaust system that back pressure doesn't matter?

Furthermore, if the DPF is totally removed I'm assuming you'd also have to code out DPF regens from the DDE?

The tune to my understanding is to compensate for the free flowing exhaust system. It may need to be coded regardless of whether you gut it or put on a DP.

Hopefully one of the experts can chime in.

Greek,
A number of posts back I reported the performance change exceeded my expectations. To me, it's a part not a work of art. Jess's welds are the nicest. I'm a happy camper.

To me, the part is a work of art, and if I'm going to spend so much time building them, then it will be nothing short of a work of art.. Not Bashing anyone, I'd just like to make that clear... PRs downpipe turned out even nicer than my own, it looks so good he might not want to put it on the car, in fear of never seeing it again

Yes, I can see your point Jess and I don't feel to have been bashed. You busted your butt and worked all the details out and came out with a super nice creation. You are in essence "the father" of those two down pipes and deserve to have pride in them.

I wished I had cleaned my pipe up a little before installing. The back flange was very blued from welding. Front flange was still nice but a little blued where it is welded to the 3" pipe. I would like to put it up on a lift and run engine so I can verify I have no leaks at turbo or mid pipe flanges.

I still haven't really got to truly scream the car yet. All of the driving the child back and forth from driver's ed and having to be the "model" driver for the driving student has been a little bit of a downer. She is wanting to stretch her legs and run.

I had to do an unexpected repair on the truck yesterday as no A/C in Texas is a near emergency. It was not financially painful though as it was only a condenser fan ($90). It was a PITA though to wrestle the fan enclosure off of the condenser. Fuse box had to be moved from mount. More blood was paid to achieve success.

Just did a high pressure line and a dryer on a kenworth a/c system today.. A little side project to go along with injector replacement and overhead adjustment.. Leave the kids at home for a half hour and go play with that car!

I have never had JBD on my machine. Jess or TDI, do either of you have any sort of comparison to JBD only vs Ecotune pipe and tune only?

Also, how is anyone else's progress coming? Iaknown got his pipe but I hadn't heard anything. Yozh, you getting parts or sent in ECU yet?

Iaknown is anticipating finding some time to work on his car!.....

I am also doing a full exhaust when my car goes up on the lift so my install will take a bit longer. Good news is if all goes well I will have a somewhat cheap solution for a full stainless exhaust on our cars....

May be I had missed something, but as far as I'm concerned there were no news, pm or emails that I got to confirm we can send in our DDM. Correct me someone, I really want to be wrong.

No problem amigo. I thought you might have lost his email address.

Would be interesting to see what Stan thinks of the pipe. Email him for feedback.
