![]() Sore subject, but we used to have an awesome table saw that my DW decided to re-home. I suddenly have the one-time need for a table saw again, and will probably have to spend $50/day to rent one for ripping a few sheets of plastic sheeting.....

Had to make an emergency purchase of an Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Ultra (UCG-Ultra), because my home Unifi Security Gateway (USG) decided to fry itself after 6 years and leave my entire home network in shambles.

I take it that nobody has enjoyed the "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot were they thinking" shift knob that BMW used on the i3's steering column:

I reserved a 3-Series in the UK once and when I got to the rental place, they said they didn't have a 3-Series for me, but would I take a Jag? I was like, "Uh, sure." I was looking forward to driving a Jag as I'd never been in one. It was quickly obvious the ill-fated merger with Ford was written all over that car, including the awful dial on the center console to choose your gear. Very disappointing.

I actually really loved everything about my i3, including that stalk!

Can't go wrong with Lexus. I thought about buying a Lexus ES350 back in 2022 when I sold the 328. Instead went with a CPO 540. I just couldn't go to Lexus after driving a BMW for 3~ years
![]() Beautiful car. I love that color. I think that's Atomic Silver if I am not mistaken.

Not the OP, but it was a GREAT car to have at the time. Heavy discounts plus incentives and rebates meant a <$200 lease payment. Personally, I leased 3 in a row to take advantage of all the incentives and rebates. I would have bought the last one, and I probably should have, but I didn't know they were going to discontinue it. Today, with EVs depreciating and the range getting higher and higher, the i3 isn't as appealing. If I had bought that last one, though, I'd have kept it for a long time. Such a great commuter!

Not having to drive to work any more and needing to shave 25% off of my monthly expenses because of the work buyout, the obvious big-ticket item that needed to go was the i3 and its high insurance payments because of the carbon fiber chassis' extreme cost to repair from even a minor accident. I made most of my money back on it after five years of ownership, because of the crazy price that I stole it for when I bought it. I still have the almost-Mighty Freightliner in the driveway in case I need to go somewhere like a doctor's appointment, but I haven't driven it once so far yet in 2025 because I have no place to go. Even if I did need to go somewhere, that thing is a beast that doesn't fit in normal parking spaces or under drive-through window canopies. It's our road trip vehicle, so we need to keep it around for trips down south to visit our tree farm. Anyway, the i3 was like a VW Rabbit GTI on steroids, weighing only 2,500 pounds with 180 HP and rear-wheel drive. Absolutely a blast to drive.....

Also looked at some LS500s but honestly I just didn’t see that much improvement vs how much more they cost (at least for similar year mileage etc). Never thought I would own a Lexus, but here we are. I do like trying new things and apart from a Corolla I owned for a short time never really had Japanese cars. It was kinda of a spur of the moment thing. Reaaaally wanted out of the Cayenne as it was out of warranty, brakes supposedly needed to be changed a year ago, but were still going. Tires were coming up, oil change, value kept tanking and then I started reading about all the water pump failures and it was already at over 80k miles I got it around 50k. So when that 2022 UL ES350 came up I jumped on it. We’ll see how I feel in a year. ![]() |
