So now is your chance at getting probably the best z06 ever made. Because there sure as well won't be another NA V8 of this kind in the next one.
I can be patient since I need to pay off my Porsche first lol.

Lucky you. Targa prices have gone through the roof. Would love to get one but not for 200k.

I was fortunate (relatively) that I paid MSRP. Dealers have tried to buy my car just below $200k. Which is great, but it’s not like I can just go get another one.

Looks like rival FORD has their very own Z06 for benchmarking purposes:

Ford will never be able to make a competitor to the C8Z. Otherwise they would've improved on the GT350 or an improved version of that voodoo engine.

Palmbeachdyno youtuber is a dedicated ford guy. And he even admits GM shitted on ford's voodoo engine with the LT6.

The LT6 is the last NA V8 great. Ford can not and will not top this. They might make an EV competitor lol. But if they did that, GM has been on that project already for a corvette EV.

Not sure what makes Ford incapable of making a competitor. I agree that they won't, but there are plenty of competent engineers at Ford, as well as available resources to make it. They won't because it's not financially smart at this time in the auto industry.

All the top car makers have competent engineers.

The idea of the C8Z with the NA engine actually becoming a reality, meaning not a rumor or a pipe dream anymore, has been known for a couple of years now. So ford had time to counter back. How would they do that? And what car would they put it in? They're going to 1 up GM with a 700hp NA engine? And stuff it in what car? And price it at what?

The ford GT costs half a million. And the C7 ZR1 beat that car on numerous tracks for 1/3 of the price. There is nothing ford could build, even though we all know they can, that can compete on the level the C8Z will be on. ANd if they do, they'll have to charge half a mill again like their ford GT.

That's why corvettes have been FOREVER been the BEST value for the performance.

One has been their cylinder bore for their sports cars. They've managed to make some good engines despite it, but they've been unwilling to change it for mass production. The other is they simply don't put the same resources into performance vehicles in the same way. They'd rather have raptor trucks. That's probably a better decision from a business standpoint. There was a time where they had the Fiesta and Focus ST and RS models, in addition to Mustangs, but they never seem to have this stuff for very long and it just evaporates. They played with the Ford GT, but that wasn't really like a production model, just a limited concept. They don't seem to do stuff like CTS-Vs, V-blackwings, multiple 2-door sports cars, etc. They build everything on the Mustang.

And they're STILL no where as successful as GM when it comes to the corvette.

Doesn't matter what variant ford did with the mustang. The GT350, the mach1, the GT500, the new mustang GT etc etc.

Yes it'll sell but none of those cars were ever desired or as popular as corvettes, especially now with the C8 generation. Everyone and their mother were doing the dream C8 builds and posting it on their IG and facebook. Then it happened again with the C8 z06.

I never saw anyone do a dream build on a GT500 so they can show it off on social media lol

One could argue the only genuine Corvette "competitor" Ford produced was the original 1955 Thunderbird. The '58 Thunderbird went in a different direction from the Corvette and the two models were separated by market focus from then on. The 2005 - 2006 Ford GT was conceived and eventually built to celebrate Ford's 100 Year anniversary and post 40-year recognition of the mid-1960's Le Mans fight with Ferrari; the 2003 revival of the Ford GT(40) had nothing to do with competing against the Corvette. So, I don't even know why this is a discussion point since for some 60+ years there has been no rivalry between the two automakers in the 2-seat sports coupe segment.

Maybe we can discuss the 1982 Ford EXP vs. the 1984 Pontiac Fiero?

I think it's aimed at the GT3 though.

Which is a tall order but i think GM can get close to it.

Some of the #s are lackluster, though.

the numbers are fitting for what it is. nearly a 3700 pound weight combined with a realtively low torque NA 5.5 liter.

https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/f...8-italia-test/

^ 13 year old ferrari 458 trapping 3mph higher than the z06 and only running 0.4 slower in the quarter (despite being 100hp down). the z06 gets a massive launch thanks to cup2R tires and then the 458 starts reeling it in or at least keeping pace.

the z06 was never going to be taking on the F8 or 720s. its a newer 458 with a warranty.
