I know the N55s all had valvetronic (or I think) and the early cars had pneumatic wastegates, maybe they used the vacuum pump as source like you suggested and just had an electronic actuator or electromagnet to open the wastegates to vacuum when desired? A system like the n52 disa to open the exhaust flap would have been perfect for that application I too was surprised when I saw that massive hose on my old 335 |

You read it right. It’s because one of the solenoid bolts broke off and part of the procedure is to check the oil pan. They found part of a bolt in the pan. They also removed the valve cover to inspect the valves. All good and running great.

After my VCG DIY, I got a little paranoid about the OFHG and Oil Cooler gasket. I went back and double-checked for leaks and found nothing under the OFH so I'll have it just in case...the aluminum flange will be a bonus.

It's been 4 years and I hooked it up to Rheingold. Now why did I have a feeling it wasn't gonna work? lol
I finally remembered, need to change COM3 to COM9, as nothing was being read. Found the section for battery registration--I'm setup for programming only and it shows my only replacement was at 29k miles--matches carfax by 30 miles! 9 years ago. Yes I should get with the times and get something like protool, but I don't want to spend money on something I'd rarely use. Also, I got a WFCO power supply that I'm going to use whenever any of our cars are running diagnostics with ignition on. If I ever do get to coding, this is good for 55A. The 70A costs another $90 which again too much--it also needs a 20A receptacle which I do have in the garage. It can supply 55A clean @ 14.4V https://wfcoelectronics.com/product/wf-9855-55-amp/ |

Installed this. Sorry it was dark and no flash.. actually dropped a decent size piece of plastic from the original into the hose and couldn't retrieve it.. I'm guessing it'll end up in the pump?

You don't want that going into the water pump. Removing the hose is easier than replacing the pump at an inconvenient time. |

What I did today???????????? I fcked it up.
- At the gas station, the vent wont vent anymore, I can get fuel slowly only. - Get out from the SAME gas station , and the rear brake like broke. No more brakes. That E90 with manual hand brake, thank you, I could make it on hazard @ 10km/h. - On my way back home, the car was smoking as hell, the break fluid was spilling on my exhaust. Anyway, Ill get the summer out of the garage, get the e91 in this weekend. Using the f25, thanks covid, wife dont use it. |

brake lines you say? you have my sympathy. did you know that the front passenger brake line in a GMT800 silverado is 133" long. yeah, figure that out. but it certainly is, and it took me 90 minutes to install today. |

First I tought it might be the hand brake shoe that flew and hit the brake line. Those shoe are weakly installed imo.
Because yes I heard an metal noise seconds before loosing the brakes. But my wheel is dry... will report in few days, I hope this is only the flex and hard hose junction. not the first time, 15 years ago the same happened. I used a drywall screw, screw it in the line, refill and ride on 3 calipers before getting it to the nearest indy |

That's the good thing about the UK MoT, rusty brake lines = fail. Had to replace a good few over the years to pass.

Inched a few more miles closer to the 300k mile mark....
And decided to get rid of my 8.5 x 17 square setup with 245/45R17 and go back to a more milder 8x17 and 225/45R17 setup. Also got a notice from Strongflex.eu that the rear lateral arm to chassis bushings would be here ~Thursday. |
