So conversation Steve and I had just a few mins ago....based in reality with ALOT of liberties taken for comedic effect....

Castro is still a kid. His talent is ahead of his skills, no doubt. I think he's going to be fine. I think Jackson's future is in Center.

Well, Fukudome is on the last year of his contract so that should't be impossible later this season. Max Ramirez should also be given time at C and 1B. This trying to put a "competitive" team together while they still suck is BS. Window has closed.....Figure out what you've got.

I don't argue any of that with Castro....but all I'm saying is you can't expect to win with a SS committing that many errors. Will he improve to be acceptable, yes. Will he win a gold glove, likely not.

Yea I'm well aware he had a good year...now how about putting 2 together back to back. And considering the rest of the team is "rebuilding" he's really the only batter they have (except maybe Byrd) that either isn't green and young or aging with best years behind him

Maybe 08 was an anomaly but after that year I had high hopes for him...so I'd like to see him improve upon last year which he's capable of, and stay that way. He had a good year, but not good enough

I agree. I think ownership is terrified of the "r" word. I'd have blown the thing up and written off this season. But hey, Ricketts must know better than me, right. It's his baseball department, after all.

What's going to be interesting is to see if the salaries coming off the books translates into being seriously in the mix for a marquee 1B this winter. There's not really going to be a ton of competition for Fielder and Pujols.

Whoa. Last year wasn't good enough? In what way was it not good enough? And what does it mean to "start improving" if his 2010 season doesn't qualify.

I'm not looking at 2010, I'm looking at 2005-2010. He's inconsistent. He's had 2 good years out of 6...needs to be better than that, and I think he's very capable of it, he just needs to start doing it consistently. I'd love to pencil him in for 30+ RAR a year, but you can't do it.

Given the state of the rest of the team, he's a critical element. He can do it, I'm just not sure he will.
