I remember when my car was brand new, I said something like that, and a few dudes did the "cool story bro." I was thining wtf you Richey Riches! hahahahahahahaha

some other guys were like dude his car is new, give him a break.

All I'm saying is I know the feeling. I pushed my snowblower into my bumper a couple years ago and nobody really sees it but me, but the fact that I did it s****!

Replaced my leaky radiator and figured while I had the stock intercooler off I'd do a little upgrade

It was advertised as a VRSF 5" stepped on FB marketplace but the mounting tabs are a little different but it is solid and doesn't leak.

Looks more like it might be the "ATM intercooler" from UROTuning

On one of my days off I took my wife's SUV and picked up 12 bags of rocks and a Gorilla cart, loaded up the SUV, back out, crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrunch. Oh **** she's gonna kill me was my first thought (this was just 6 weeks ago).

Looks like what happened was I had left the flat cart next to the car, and was backing out front wheels turned left, so the RF tire was pushing the cart and it was skidding, no paintwork got damaged!

I have no dings on the 335i and if I got any I'd seek out PDR. But I realize I can't do a lot about the bumpers and rock chips on the hood. Oh, actually there is a teeny ding on the roof from of all things, an acorn falling...nobody knows it's there but me, too tiny...

Hey everyone. I'm new here and just bought a 2011 328i Xdrive on Thursday. I'm in love with it.

But anyway, what I've done today: used degreaser to get rid of what I think is someone spilling oil to see if that comes back and seeps more. If so, I've got my work cut out for me... all 20 minutes worth. lol

I also ordered a little CF trim ring to go around the start button. The paint is flaking and rather than buy a whole new one or remove it and hope to paint it (don't know how hard that would be) if I can just throw a neat little CF sticker with the M colors on instead, why not?

If the oil is coming from the oil filter housing you'll need to replace the gasket, its a very common problem. Same with the valve cover gasket and oil pan.

Anyways, welcome to the forum and enjoy!

Just like my Charger Daytona. Long story but it ended up in a ditch (no it wasn't because I'm an idiot), and there was no visible damage really other than a tiny outward dent. But I knew it was there. I knew. It haunts me to this day and I haven't had the car for two years.

That's why I buy used cars now lol. If someone ELSE got rock chips, I'm not super hyper over the top vigilant about parking in a parking lot or just driving it in general. Still absolutely baby my cars, but the anxiety is gone.

Red button and a little bit of wrap made it look brand new

Finally the subframe is going home with new engine mounts and the engine can stop dangling from the support bar.

Damn that looks good. Still better than new. Hurry up and polish your valve cover! You can install MILVS and replace the VCG while you're in there

Thx brother! I'll get to that. I've done the underneathy part of the engine, the front and the exhaust side, at this point I feel like I've already changed and unplugged and disturbed a hornets nest of codes. I still have to do the VCG and valvetronic, and I'd like to pull the intake and change the CCV hoses and check the oil separator. but I'm gonna leave that drivers side and top engine stuff until I get it coaxed back to life. I still have the whole a$$ end to do before that lol. I keep telling myself by spring,,,,

Now I really feel old lol. JK, no I don't.

It's not bad at all to enjoy doing real things with your real hands. This world promises a lot, but there are no ads for contentment on netflix.

There's a dopey quote that's been attributed to everyone under the sun but it's true. "ain't nothing to it but to do it".

Thanks!

I don't think it's the filter housing. I'm leaning towards cam position sensor at the moment. Wish I could post a photo but my Photobucket account is dead (too much stuff so it's deactivated I guess)... I'll figure that out at some point. But anyway it seems to be under there. Definitely NOT the valve cover.

I did have a heart attack moment. The engine mount on the subframe had some brown fluid (or so I thought). Thought oh crap, is the valve cover gasket THAT bad???? Look closer, no seepage, so I blew on it and it turned out to be water. New owner anxiety.

Not many codes it can throw thats common at least, when you do those hoses I believe they're under recall so you might not even have to worry about that one. Otherwise they are a huge pain in the ass that I dont recommend dealing with unless you make a catch can setup lol

Of course! And you can post pictures locally so no need to worry about photobucket. See, just like this

Based off all the shit you've done to your car in this short amount of time I'd say you're far from old

It's funny, my day job is a salesman so I have to keep a clean look. Sometimes I find it hard to do with this hobby, especially with all of this covid stuff no one has gloves in stock lol

It's a good saying to go by. Who knows if you can do if you dont try?

Cumulatively I've disconnected and drained every fluid and every sensor tho, I have to prime the cooling, the PS, the AC needs recharged, the brakes I didn't want to mess w/ ABS so they're just waiting to be pressure bled. So I get what you're saying, it shouldn't be a problem, but I don't want to be chasing codes all over. I'm hoping for none, but lol.

I know I'm still under the takata airbag recall, and i believe you're right for the ccv elbow heater too but might be too old for that one. I'll let them do the airbag, I don't want anyone really touching my car tho. When I get inside the engine I'll call for backup.

Like I said I have plenty of time between wuhan flu and other stuff like NFL being dead to me. Only my cramping up hands slow me down, and keep me off my sickle sometimes. Enjoy them.

I show up at pplz buisness and home to fix their computers and networks. I never look snappy cause they don't care when I can still crawl under their desk and replug stuff, which they won't even attempt even if it's all they need.

When you start with something that the rest of the world basically threw away by now, you can only make it and the world better.

Sounds like you still got some work put out lol, I believe in ya! You should consider making a build thread. Would love to see everything you've done laid out in one post

I feel you on people touching your car. Only time I'll let someone is if they're my buddies helping me out or the shop I go to doing my alignment. Really hoping the sport steering wheel I'm retrofitting will be covered under that recall thatd be pretty nice..
