We should do a meet at the track...not that I am going to set up a meet as that isn't my thing.

Filled the tank up with E85 last night. I'm planning on doing three third gear pulls tonight to calibrate map 5, and then two more pulls to data log. Here's to hoping my stock car can handle the approximately E30 blend I put in.
When I tested the E85 it appeared to be roughly E75, so I put in more E85 than I would have otherwise. Hopefully my testing was right and I'm not actually running closer to E40.

Ugh I completely forgot that fact i'm going to be in Atlantic City the 2nd week of September for work. I think I'm the only person who complains about having to go there. I would prefer the week of the 15th, 22nd, or 29th. But don't feel you have to work around my schedule.

Well, it looks like my car can't handle E85 properly: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26497
So that's a bit of a bummer. On the upside, no codes thrown, no misfires or anything. I guess I should do some more logs on just 93 octane and see how they go. The problem is the whole full third gear pull thing - that's from 30mph to 90mph or so WOT. There's like nowhere to do that; it was hard enough doing it the few times I did for those logs and it had to be on an incline for some. Since E85 isn't the answer and I want 400hp+, it seems like I need to go with downpipes and map 2. That does leave me with the problem of emissions and then of course the price of the downpipes and the installation, as well. Hmmm...

There is no issue with emissions in MA. I pull in with catless DPs and my flash only tune and pass. You are allowed one readiness monitor not ready. I would order DPs and an IC from Tiago, maybe throw in a CP for good measure. As far as install cost try and find a mechanic who wants a side job or DIY...It is much more rewarding DIY but that is just me.

As far as intercooler goes, it's outside my "amount I'm willing to throw at my car" budget. Given that I never push the car hard for any extended periods of time, I'm not entirely sure it would be worth it, either. No tracking since I don't have an oil cooler, and nowhere to really get up to speed. Unfortunately my mechanic options are really limited (can't find anything out this way). I looked at the DIY, but it seems to be out of my league. I'm doing spark plugs soon for my brother and even that is scary for me, ha! Still gotta find somewhere to do some data logging too. Highways around here are hilly, very heavily policed, and will pull you over for 73mph.

New stock frame turbo record:
If that could be reliable for DD who needs a ST...it literally increases 200 ft lb of tq from 3-4k rpms...

yup on a dynojet to boot, granted there is no baseline or log I am aware of. it's on the other forarm. custom built stock frame turbos, E85 mix, meth for fueling. Those numbers should increase by a bit if they can do 100% E85 I think. Either way impressive.
400 ft lbs of tq at 3k 500 ft lbs of tq at 3.5k 600 ft lbs of tq at 4k so from 4k-6.5k rpms you are at basically 600 wheel tq or hp. obviously this is unique but pretty amazing for stock frames given their size imo. It would make for a killer DD with that instant tq on tap. a ST will end up being faster with more linear power but damn...

Been following that thread all day to see exactly what's been done to the turbos.

I like how Vargas is all over the thread and making it seem like this is nothing new and he already had plans to make the turbos better. Really guy? 1st batch didn't perform, 2nd batch is basically a copy of RBs with upgraded thrusts and options for billet wheels(which are unneeded imo). I think I would still want an ST just for the HP bragging rights and to keep up with a certain supra I know...but 600/600 with near instant spool would be more fun to drive I bet. Talk about a sleeper.

Based on the baby bottle test the E85 was 75% ethanol (odd, I thought it was 85% this time of year). So I added five gallons of E75 and eleven gallons of 93 octane, which should've yielded about 30% ethanol overall and around 97 octane.
Still gotta figure out where to do my data logging. Ugh. I was out in the Southwest a week or two ago on vacation and the roads out there are absolutely amazing. I was in the desert out by the mountains, and it's just unbelievably beautiful. There's these little to no traffic roads that go from winding, hilly sections to endless visibility straights. I saw a guy out there with an Exige, pretty much the perfect car for the situation. I'll have to go back sometime just to drive.

Try it again with adding only 3.5 and see if it does the same thing. I'll sometimes run regular for a couple of tanks to give it a break, but when I put too much ethanol in off the bat, the car acts up as well. Might be what you experienced as well. |

It's nice how he hasn't riced the car out at all. Super clean. That thing must be a beast. Stock they weigh 3,417 lb which isn't too far off from us we are just north of 3500 so roughly a 100lb difference which is what like 25whp using bench racer math? Full E85 a ST N54 should be able to hang but obviously the 2jz motor has alot more potential given you can increase the displacement etc. It's kind of a shame about the 1/4 rules. He can't run it more than once unless he cages it. A cage seems to take away from it being a awesomely fast street car to suddenly 'race cah' @Island Road Does Hexon do the same thing that VTT does and that is using the TD03 center section and thus the TD03 interface flange? This makes things much cheaper to produce, but you lose the flexibility that having a TRUE TD04 adapted (such as RB's and Turbo Dynamics) interface and new TD04 center sections. Just curious. Also, when the hell are those things going to be for sale?
