Hi all,
Another newbie to join the UK group. I drive a 2006, 3-series 320i Touring M Sport in black and I've only had it for a few days now (Although I've been lurking for a couple of weeks). I just thought I should pop in and say hello. Cheers, David |

hey - newbie here
Just registered after buying a 325d M sport, which is great, love the sound on acceleration, but i've got a few stupid questions
1) How do you turn the aircon off - presumably this will make it a bit more efficient on fuel 2) Is there any way of playing the CD's that have been stored on the cars hard drive in random mode, I know how to play the albums on random, but want all the collection on random - if possible. 3) Run flats seems a hot topic - got em on mine and the ride is hard, i'm going to be doing 30K a year, how long would i expect to get out of them, and when they go, should i definately move to non run flats, is the car set up specifically for run flats 4) Ipod - got the aux in connection with a 3and hald inch connection to my iphone 4 - sounds ok, but whats the cheapest solution to getting track names through the idrive - dealer told me it would be £400 - bit steep methinks 5) no question - love the car |

Howdy folks, I've been here a few months but thought it's time to say hello.
Due to sort of accidentally destroying the engine in my Legacy B4, I'm now a 320D owner. I've gone from petrol, 4wd and 2 turbos to derv, 1 turbo and rwd. The plus is I've left behind an average 18mpg, along with 140hp though Anyway I'm loving the E90, I have 2 small kids, by that I mean young, not literally small, well one of them is, but you get me. And I have a 60 mile a day roundtrip to work so this ticked all the boxes. So far it's had some BBS CH's, next is a chrome twin exhaust tip from the chap on here that makes them in the states, m3 lip spoiler, rear tint and possibly springs or coilovers And here's the oilburner!

Hi
Just a quick hello for my first post. My current car is a 123d m-sport, which is due back to the lease company soon, so I've decided to go for a 320d SE with a few options. Hopefully making the right choice, as it will be a bit of a drop performance wise but hopefully a bit of a saving in fuel bills and tax. Gazza |

Hiya,
Newbie here from Bristol.... Currently we have an X3 3.0d m sport, which we are swapping for a 320d m sport touring. Looking forward to getting it, although we've gone for a manual so the wife will have to get used to changing gear again Cheers Matt |

BMW Virgin
Hello all this is my first post so please be gentle with me. In the past I have owned Mercs (E class estate) and Audis (A6 Quattro) amongst others but when the kids left home I got rid of the big car and bought a Boxster S (mid life crisis and all that bollocks). I have owned this for a number of years and the delight of driving it on a sunny day on a country lane has never worn off but for long distances on the motorway it not ideal. I toyed with the idea of getting a Mondeo or similar and keeping the Boxo but 3 cars (wife has shopping car) for 2 people seemed too much. Then I saw a 2010 335 convertible, sold the Porsche and bought it. This is my first BMW and my story so far (I have had the car 3 weeks). Comparing it with the Boxster is a bit silly as they are very different cars. The Boxster cannot be faulted for sticking to the road; in the dry I would chicken out before the car would show any distress at going around roundabouts at speed. The car’s capability was way beyond my own but I found that you didn't have to go fast to enjoy the handling; there is always some plonker in a 1 litre diesel white van who can and will go faster but come to a roundabout and he is dust. It was also surprisingly good for luggage space with the 2 boots. Downsides were expensive to service and boring on a motorway. So to the BMW. Well the engine and and gearbox (it has the DCT) are amazing, very quiet and refined so much so that one can easily get illegal. Handling is not as direct and immediate as the Porcshe and (so far) does not bring as bigger smile to the phizzog when going around corners. I did have concerns about the ride with the run flats but it is OK. The car I have is an SE spec but it has many sport options added so I am not really sure about the suspension. As I am getting old the ride/handling compromise is ok for me. The Passenger has not moaned and she is not backward in commenting on ride quality. So drives ok, refined for long journeys, nice place to sit etc etc. What are the downsides? MPG not brilliant; I am getting 20 (from the display) but I have been using the engine a bit; I am not too concerned as you do not buy a car like this if you expect fuel economy. The headlight washer covers fell off on first use. Common problem I hear; and BMW are to replace them under warranty. Clunky satnav input although mitigated somewhat by being able send the google map coordinates to the car from a phone or pc. But the biggest disappointment was the mediocre audio (the car had the base system). I have read about the Alpine upgrade kit but the dealer quoted almost £600 for it + fitting; to be fair to them they said that a local car audio specialist that they use would do a better job. So had the following done; speakers replaced with Hertz units + tweeter added (the speakers in the back left alone), plus a Hertz 2 channel amp with a doberry between the head unit and the amp. Got car back yesterday and it was what I wanted, sounds great, seamlessly integrated with all the bings bongs and radio working ok and no one would know it was there;. Fitting bloke said I need to run in the speakers a bit and it would get even better; he knew what he was doing and said he would always get a base system because you can get better sound for less money. (but he would say that wouldn’t he). I have enjoyed reading the forum and I thought I would put something back with this post. So far so good and do not regret anything. Still miss the boxo a bit though. |

yeah so I was bored one afternoon, went out for a drive and came back with an '07 325 coupe m-sport, manual, grey.
3 weeks in it still looks lovely and goes really well, still adjusting to the mpg difference from the auto diesel volvo I had previously but you can beat the sound of the engine regardless of how much petrol I have to put in it............ im still not used to having to go over 4k revs, it dont really get going till after that. interested to know how much different the car handles on non-RFT, that seems to be the simplest modification to undertake. |

Thought I'd say hello despite coming on here reading for a few weeks.
After a lot of searching I got my 57 plate Alpina D3 mono turbo Touring in June 2009. Been very pleased with it with no issues whatsoever. Cheers Adam |

Well here we are, being a forum admin somewhere else (not cars tho, gaming) I new i had to find the NooB section after reading the forum rules of course.
Well im 25 i had an E46 (318i) for a couple of years, and now im entering the world of E90 320d. I know most of you have big 335i M3 etc, and im quite small compared (that sounds wrong doesn't it) but its a pleasure to join you. Ill sort out some pics at some point, iv only had the car a few days so its on the "things to do list". I am now going to try and find out about the best oil for my car using this site as the showroom was pretty usless. speak soon, DaN |
