I didn't do anything on my car yesterday but I went to visit my buddy I see a couple times a year that got me into the Bimmers. I got him into motorcycles years ago so it's only fair. He's got a '83 E24 M6 Euro, it's badass plus a '03 M5, a E46 330Ci Coupe and 330i sedan, and a E30 ragtop and sedan. Nothing as new as a E9x lol. He currently veered off the BMWs and is putting together a Shelby Cobra on a legit original unused Carroll Shelby chassis. Always good to visit and get inspired to take things to the next notch

You can do that on older BMWs but modern ones will throw the toys out of the pram and put up ASC+T and DSC lights. Local garage did an alignment on my Z4 that left the steering wheel at an angle. It only fits the column in one position so car thought it was permanently cornering until they did it right.

It your mate has any E24 issues tell him to contact me, I'm a bit of an expert on those. Wonderful cars, except for the rust. They're seen by some folk as barges but they can really handle and drive superbly with the right tweaks. Very raw and great fun.

Today continued disassembling rear suspension, got the bearings out and races off the hubs. Shocks and springs out, that's as far as I'm taking it apart I'll lower the rest with the subframe as one piece.

Changed OFHG on family member’s 328i drive in the UP of Michigan in the snow.

I don’t miss working on cars in the winter in the cold.

Brought 328iT in for an alignment and had them plug a tire. Ended up doing it for free as their tech took nearly 3 hours to do one tire the alignment guy was done in 30 minutes.

Car rides so nice now after changing rear shocks and now an alignment. It had been a bit loose in the back end now it's just snows that squirm.

How long did it take and what did you do with the coolant hose?

I finished the valve cover replacement on the e46 thanks to prime delivering the new cover today.

Then proceeded to begin to tackle my belt squeak noise on cold start and I think this AC belt looks like the cause lol. I've never seen one falling apart to this point.

30-45 minutes. Crack the oil filter cover to drain the oil back into the block. Re-seal it. Then pull the 3 bolts and pull the unit back while still attached to the coolant hose. Unplug the one electrical sensor first. The coolant hose flexes plenty to get access, clean, and replace the gasket.

Then do some scrubbing with a scotch brite, swap out the gasket and seal her up. Add approximately one cup of coolant and check level soon after running.

Can do coolant bleed procedure too. Best if you do.

You'd be the one to ask as most of the issues he's had with it relate to it being a euro import not a US car. I love the feel of it, it's "raw" as you say, just a pure driving machine.

I have a 3.64 diff stuck in Limbo in Ogdensburg, NY, since March, thanks to the covid border closure...

I'm hoping to get it by spring, so I can install it and enjoy it.

The reason it's stuck in Ogdensburg is because before covid madness closed the border, I would have anything I bought from US sellers shipped to the UPS Store there, then drive down and pick it up in person (it's about a 45 minute drive from here, and not having stuff cross the border saves SO much on shipping/duties it isn't even funny!). I bought the diff from an Ebay seller before the border was closed, but by the time it was delivered to the UPS Store, we were in full-blown lockdown... so, now I have to wait until this crap is over, and go pick it up!

I'm still planning on headers and a suspension refresh this spring, haha!! I plan on keeping my E90 long term.

Cheers!

Ordered my new front Sachs sports for my touring. I decided to keep it stock because misses and I drive it a lot when we got go kayaking. No need to make it overly stiff ride, we have the M3's for sporty rides.

When this started, you shoulda seen trying to get a 4G hotspot. 5G all day long because it cost 5X. Another oddity? RAM mounts for vehicle mounts be it forklifts, tractcors, cop cars, etc. Certain android tablets. Stuff one normally thinks can come next day, takes 4 months. You can't exactly ask a forklift driver to hold it in his hands and drive into a freezer, the mount will be here in a few months

Once again sorry if it's your employer, but on a personal level? the USPS has gone buck wild with gift cards and checks gone missing, deliveries vaporizing, etc.
