I'd rather spend it on something thats much more likely to make a difference in reliability and accuracy

Not to mention simple things like ensuring you have a properly staked BCG and improved extractor spring kit

Everything I have are hodge podge mutts incl uppers I've assembled myself

With an unlimited budget I might get a complete upper or even complete firearm from Larue.....but you cant go wrong with BCM uppers either.....heck rock river's are really nice with the wylde chamber

IWI X95 is what you're looking for.

We can finally agree on a topic!!

Had my Shotgun for a few months, and this past weekend went out and got a Glock .40 and my Smith and Wesson AR, M&P sport 2

Medium compact. I went in there all set to buy an M&P, got to looking around and settled on this. H&K VP9 was a close 2nd, but I can't stand the paddle mag release.

Yes but everyone should be proficient with then first of all

Second......the 556 round is a lot less effective past 4-500 yards than 7.62...throw in a target with any sort of body armor and this is exacerbated further....not to mention its inability to turn cover into concealment like 7.62 can

All of us should be able to put rounds on a jihadi sized target at 400 yds without too much trouble using iron sights

Optics break, batteries run out.....if it CAN malfunction at the worst time possible it WILL which is why folks need to practice with open sights

Just an opinion.....

Correct. Batteries die at the worst time. Iron never dies.

Troy Ind folding BUIS has been my choice over the years. I have the Magpul MBUIS on my 22lr but for some reason have been hesitant to use them in a larger caliber. I like how they deploy quickly, but i like how the Troy BUIS feel like they are permeant irons once deployed.

Im glad I started this...EVERYONE knows more than me...will be a wealth of knowledge. I am going to clean both guns tonight. How often do you clean your pistols? I have probably put 500 through each so It's time....what do you suggest, going forward?

I have purchased more than everything I need to clean them for years! LOL

Clean each time you shoot. I do a detailed cleaning every 3 range visits and just pull a bore snake through for the others, that way I minimize the amount of brushing the barrels will see. If you're carrying the gun, clean the dust and lint out of it every few months so you don't get a malfunction if you need it. And don't overlube.

I shoot 2-4 times per week as the range is on my way home from the office so I proably shoot 150-200 rounds per session.... i guess the answer for me is clean after every range session?

I do. It helps prevent misfires and gets any corrosive grime that may be left off. It can't hurt. And I enjoy it typically doing it on a sunday watching football.

Full break down and clean after every range visit? Seems excessive.

Some guns are more finicky than others. The 1911 and the AR like a lot of cleaning. The AK and the garands could probably care less. I just do them all regardless. Its calming like washing the car.
