It’s not the dealers fault, they just facilitate communication between BMW corporate and you. If a part is not available then either you accept the alternative of you can choose to cancel your order. If this really bothers you, just cancel and wait until the M Illumination isn’t mandatory anymore, however long that will take.

It is a shame to being forced the M illuminated trim. Still going to order one but definitely not a fan.
Can someone confirm if you can turn it off or lower the brightness? |

I do not believe you can turn it off. As I mentioned to Coconut I will definitely check on the brightness this weekend when I get my car back and get an answer.

I can't believe what direction Bmw is going in, it's awkward, it's tuning contest stuff for teenagers with Honda or Hyundai from 90's.
Anyway, you can easily retrofit the full gloss black trim from the M2, not sure about the door panels accent though. |

The brightness adjustment does also work with the M illuminated trim. Just an update as I said I would check.

I was thinking about a possible retrofit for the new M2, which has the M accents as standard on the doors panels (not a problem for the dashboard trim since it's in carbon fiber), but I'm not sure if and how it's doable. |

I have not seen them in MY23. Only illumination I have seen are the door cards and the dash trim. Very little overall illumination. My Cooper was better illuminated!

Aesthetics...
Truth be told, once I got used to the lighting in the Cooper, I really didn't even notice it anymore as I never changed it So, could definitely live without it especially since the 240 does not have much anyway. |

To my knowledge, at least on iOS, they don't officially support the G42 or iDrive 8 as of yet. I heard iD8 might be harder to crack… same for the 3-er LCI (with iD8) not officially supported yet
