hey guys I have a nonsport 325i, with 20" rims (10" wide at the rear). I'd like to fit lower springs BUT does anyome have experience of this... would I be looking for trouble/wheelarch rub etc? thanks!

i have a question... since my shocks on my e90 are about to go out soon i was planning on doing an h&r race springs on my oem shocks until it blows. is it do able? or will it not have enough travel?

Hey guys. Planning on installating koni yellows and h&r sports springs soon. Anyone have a picture of the drop with 18 inch rims? If anyone can recommend a tire size with the yellows and h&r springs that would be great too.

After swapping out all my suspension parts for M3 parts, what do I do with my original pieces? Is there even a market for the sways, control arms, etc or do they go right to the garbage?

Actually I am wondering the same. Unless maybe I wanted to sell it and put back to stock. NOT!!

Hello,

I've read through pretty much the entire thread as well as other ones in regards to suspension reviews, however I'm still not sure what the best option would be for me, I need some help.


My passengers front suspension is blown, we have pretty bad roads here in Montreal, so it's probably a good idea to replace the suspension on all 4 corners.
  • Budget: <1000$ with shipping
  • Important: Comfort
  • Lowering: Anything between 0-1"
  • Handling: Seriously for road use, even stock suspension is good enough for me, yes there's some body "roll", however I know how to work with it as the car is well balanced.


My Options:

1. Buy a used suspension (either stock or sport): don't really like this option as most used ones are probably blown or worned out as my own suspension, I would rather buy new, however there can be had some great deals.

2. H&R Cup Kit (the less aggressive version): From what I've heard this seems like a good option, most people say it doesn't impact comfort as much, however is that actually true? can somebody here please give me some feedback about the comfort level on less than perfect roads when compared to stock suspension?

3. Bilstein HD shocks & Sport Springs or my own stock springs: This would be a little bit less lower than the H&R Cup Kit, however is it also more comfortable? If not it would be less "trouble" to just get the H&R kit I suppose

4. Same as the above blistein set-up but with the KONI FSD instead, a little bit more expensive, not sure it's worth it... and the kit with the H&R springs or Eibach is over 1000$

Also, I don't care much about being able to adjust the height as I'll keep it at the "highest" setting available anyway

About 3 weeks ago I had the suspension upgrade done that is shown down in my signature block. This is not a tweak to the suspension though; it is a total rework. Changed the whole feeling of the car. I am still evaluating. Will post in a separate thread that I started about 3 weeks ago. Not cheap.

My tendency would be to install (buy if needed) springs from the sport suspension and install with Koni FSD.

I saw your post just now ^ and remember you installing a boatload of suspension components. I am definitely waiting to hear your opinions, because your mods sounded great. The hard part might be figuring out what-did-what on the feel of the suspension, etc.

Thanks for the response, I'm probably going to go indeed with the springs from the sport suspension, however for the price I'll give the bilstein tourings a try.

Does anybody know from where else besides this forum/bimmerforums/ebay/local adds/local scrapyards I could find sport springs for my 330i e90?

2006 330i non sport.

I am currently running on koni yellows with h&r sport springs.

the front drop is good. but the rear seems to be very low. im not rubbing at all. but I just want it raised about an inch possibly more. would it be okay to just replace the rear springs and keep the fronts the same?

and what would you recommend for springs that are not that big of a drop?

I was planning on getting the Eibach pro kit for my 09 e90 dropping it 1.2" F and 1.0"R plus 18" wheels 8.5 F and 9.5 R. Does anyone have this setup? will i have to roll fenders?

I have a question about anti-roll bars. In the list at the beginning of this thread, several sway bar kits are listed along with their front/rear biasing. The H&R kit appears to have the most evenly distributed bias at 70:30. But my question is, are sway bars SUPPOSED to be even? Obviously they should be biased more towards the front since this is a RWD application, but which kit has the "best" ratio?

I recently (with the help of some talented friends) just put a complete Eibach Sportline Plus Suspension Kit on my E90 non-sport Sedan. The kit is Eibach Sportline springs, Eibach sway bars, and what appear to be Bilstein Sport shocks. They are stamped Bilstein, it is the sport part I am not sure of.

Despite the advertised lowering of 2.0/1.4 (both by Eibach and at the start of this thread), it only dropped the car just a smidge over 1.0/1.0. That is before and after measurements from the bottom of the wheel to the bottom of the fender arch using as similar conditions as I could create (e.g., similar fuel in the tank, weight in the car, on my garage floor, after driving the new setup for a week or so, and "bouncing" the car first). I am glad though because anymore would probably have been too much.

I like the stance. The ride is definitely more performance oriented than cushy. It has stiffer springs, way less body roll, and is much more willing to turn into a corner. The damping offered by the Bilsteins is outstanding. The recovery time from bumps is almost immediate. For me, this is a perfect setup, especially since I track the car in DEs. But, I suspect others would find the ride too firm.

I have some upcoming track time with this setup and may come back here soon to say better or worse things about it...

Not right now, but maybe if I keep it on the asphalt at the track this week I'll put something up. It wouldn't compare to yours in looks. How the car looks is really not my primary focus. I just like driving these things.
