I have a 2011 LCI 320D M Sport Auto without paddles on the wheel. I've just bought a replacement LCI wheel which has the LCI paddles and MFD buttons, and am looking to swap them over. The MFD connector on the new wheel has all 6 pins populated, but I'm yet to take the trim off from around my steering column to see if there are empty pin slots on the relevant connector, or if they are already populated with the yellow wires. Has anyone with a similar age car found that the yellow wires are there and the relevant additions wires are already in the car where the blue connectors are under the gearshift? Not sure if any cars come pre wired for the paddle shift or not?

OK, so I've got my:
steering wheel DCT paddle shifters Some 18 gauge wire some 18 gauge connecting wire come of the connecting pins for the multi function harness and some splice things to connect from the back of the steering wheel console to the shifter wires... wish me luck. I've read this thread about 40 times in the last 2 days to make sure I understand it all... seems pretty straight forward now that I've wrapped my head around it. |

Yes! Done!
Also, to make the job easier I took the pins out of the paddle shifter harnesses and plugged the positives right into the empty slots in the multifunction harness and then just extended the ground wires to reach the grounding point. Everything still reversible if I want. Took me about 2 hours. I spent more time getting 18 gauge connecting wire and harness pins that I didn't end up using. |

HI guys,
i dont know why,but i tried to retrofit the SSG ones from 335 onto my 330i and it doesnt work The steering came with the multifunction buttons where there are slots to plug the paddles ,I have 6 pins on the connector which goes to the slipring ,thats why i think i dont need to use additional cables like shown in this pic: Then i removed the connector at the back of the slip ring and since i had all pins i cut #2 and #4 and connected them with a wire that goes to the blue connector under the shift lever. Then connected the wires from the slipring to the blue connectors under the gear lever but the paddles doesnt work . Any help is appreciated |

paddle shift steering wheel wiring
Hi everyone. Just got my paddle shift wheel from a 08 E335ix and there are no empty pin locations in the black plug. Can I assume that all the wiring I need will be from the plug at the steering column to the shifter in the console.
If anyone can confirm this I would appreciate it |

i picked up a steering wheel with paddles and MF controls on it so the pins are all populated, am i correct in assuming i am going to need to wire the paddles directly to the 6 pin connector that plugs into the slip ring? after reading this thread it sounds like most had issues trying to retrofit the wheel with MF controls as-is and just add wiring from steering column to shifter

yeah i might just go ahead and wire it as if they won't work with the MF controls from the new wheel. they have different labels on them and I don't know if i like them haha

I guess you have the changer control i didnt either and just wired it,but i think whats best for that is getting the OEM connectors - much cleaner and faster install

well i followed the directions, and while I'm having issues getting the paddles to actually work(probably too many connections between the paddles and the shifter since i just used whatever random stuff i had already), the issue i am concerned about is the following:' 4x4/DTC error no turn signals wipers going non stop but stalk doesn't turn them off SRS light fog lights turning on and off on their own does anyone have some insight?? |

well i am not sure what i did but i got it all working properly. i took the steering wheel out and checked continuity, sat there scratching my head cuz everything was right, and said fuck it and put it back together and all that was on was the 4x4 light. i took it around the block and it went away so I'm not sure what the problem was, must have just been a connector not plugged in all the way or something.
i can tell the paddles will be a blast to drive with! i had to take it super easy when testing it, my water pump went out on me and the replacement isn't here yet but i can't wait to really get on it after i replace the water pump! |

I just installed a paddle steering wheel on my E90 2010
Everything worked fine, I already had the 2 wires inside the wheel, so I only had to install the 2 wires from the steering rack to the gear shift The only thing I want to add is that left the 2 yellow wires in place, I just connected the 2 new wires to existing ones, I did not cut them (just stripped them)

got wheel now
So I got a DCT wheel and I have the 2 pin connectors not 3 (circled on the photo) for the paddles. Now my question is, are they already grounded? On the OP instructions looks like the same DCT wheel and he ran the ground still which is why I got lost. Thanks guys!
EDIT: Just saw post #142. Looks like that's the one that I should follow?

I did everything like this DIY said and since I have a LCI shifters, I removed 2 resistors and shorted one per Zamba's post on the other DIY. Still nothing is working. Any help here ?
EDIT: after driving today and shifting with M, after parking my car a gear on the dash appeared. CC ID 347 Shifting R/N/D not possible. There is only 1 post about it, and its a solenoid "C" problem with cost 600$?! what the hell did i do ?
