With the 9.5" wheel being much wider than the OEM wheels in the front, you would have issues with the wheels and tires not clearing the struts. To alleviate this issue, you would need at least a 5mm spacer, depending on the tire size, make and model that you would like to use, which in turn will require for you to need added negative camber for proper fender clearance. While it is definitely possible to do with work done to your car, the 17x9.0" ET30 ARC-8's or 18x9.0" ET31 EC-7's become a more popular squared fitment for the e9x chassis since it is a spacer free fitment.

The camber and alignment settings is not the issue as it does not change the clearance that you have between the wheel and the strut. Due to the wide width, the wheel interferes with the struts without the use of spacers.

Finally got my winter tires mounted up and installed the wheels yesterday - in time for some storms headed our way
ARC-8's, 17x9 et30 with Michelin xice3 235/45. no spacers. LCI. Also running 75mm wheel studs and nuts from Apex. Highly recommended mod for any car whose wheels come off and on often. |

EC-7 Race Silver on '06 330i ZHP
Apex EC-7 "Race Silver" f 8.5x18 et35 p1 r 9.5x18 et35 p2 Michelin A/S 3 f 235/40 r 265/35 2006 330i, stock ZSP suspension. No rolls, no spacers. The fit of these wheels on the car is phenomenal. Aggressive and classy, they look like a proper oem setup. I'm leaning BMW roundels to finish off the job. I intended to get the Anthracite finish but in person it was just close enough to the SGM of my car that you only really noticed that the grays were different. And there's the weight. This is a street car, a daily driver... but dropping nearly 50lbs of rotating weight is noticeable even around town. Assuming Apex' weights are reasonably accurate, the EC-7 are about 11lb each lighter than the stock ZSP rims. Thanks to David and Kyle @ Apex. I had a slight rub at the left rear on compression (dips in the road, with some load in the car). Apparently the left fender-well lining wasn't installed as snugly as on the right side. Sorted now... no rubbing.

EC7 18 9 front 31 offset and 18 9 1/5 in the rear with a 22 offset. running 225/40 and 255/35 PSS. I rubbed with the 265/35 in the rear without any camber adjustment and fender rolled. Not sure how good the roll was. With this setup no rubbing which I like.

Looks great prototyp & Rickygst, thanks for sharing your photos with us! Prototyp, we hope your fender lining issue gets resolved soon so the tires don't chew away at it with the rubbing! We do agree that Michelin tires tend to be more squared off than most tires, especially with their large bead protector on their tires.

Check out this photo from our last Wallpaper Wednesday:
It is our shop E90 M3 with ARC-8's in 18x10" ET25 square and 275/35/18 Hankook R-S3's. This is the ideal track setup for this platform and best of all, it's a direct fit! No spacers, camber, or fender rolling required; just plug and play! This car is lowered on B&G Sport Springs. Other modifications include an Akrapovic Exhaust and Mode Carbon GTS Variant 1 front lip.

The 265/40/17 tire size is not very common and are not widely available, but this tire can work with the 17x10" ET25 with rolled rear fenders. The 17x10" ET25 is an aggressive wheel for the rear and would not fit without fender modification from our experience.

Square 18x9.5s with 265/35/18 Direzza ZIIs on E90. Real photos coming later, but just a quick snapshot to show that it can work.
