How on earth did you manage to get 33.5!! - I've never seen below 40 ever - and I don't hang around.

Mine's not a spider box, but I made a bracket for mine to sit on - I didn't want to be tywrapping stuff (like I have done on previous cars.

Bracket was a bit of a fiddle, though...

My last car had HID Ballasts tywrapped on, I was just never that comfortable with them. The box was on before 10k and will be on until I swap cars (+2years), so I thought it'd be worth doing it "properly".

I now wish I'd paid the extra £K's for a 335d and got a box to suit. I havn't driven a 330d but I was told by Nick of Spider that the performance of the 320d with the box is similiar to that of a stock 330d. Therefore 330d/335d boxed or remapped must be torqueytastic.........TiRich if you take the plunge please let us know.......I'm already looking through Autotrader!!!!!!!!!

Why not get one from www.promotech.se or get a reflash from ESS instead?

It seems like the Spiderbox is more advanced than Promotechs. Regarding the reflash...I don´t think I can get it done since the 320d 177hp ECU has stronger encryption and hasn´t been cracked yet? I´ve sent an email to ESS but didn´t get any answer.

More advanced how? Anyways, give ESS a call (they are quite slow on the email) and find out. A remap is way better then a box.

Promotechs box just adds more fuel I think...like the KCR and the cheaper one from Mehrleistung. The Spiderbox adapts and has an economy mode etc. Im not saying that its far more advanced...but it seems like a little better than the other ones on the market right now.

Yeah maybe I should give ESS a call...

Well I got my Spider box yesterday for my 320d (177hp) and thought I would share my impressions.

First of all, they still sending the old pictures of mounting instructions. I´m gonna send them an email about it because I also have some other questions.

Anyway, thanx to Budgie the installations was a piece of cake. I started with a calm testdrive (after calibrating) and let the engine get warm. Then I took it up on the highway and floored it on the 4th and 5th gears. It quickly accelerated up to 200 km/h and I had to look on the speedo to realize how fast I was going. But I had expected more. But I´m used with my second car, a Saab Aero with 300++ horsepowers and that one accelerates like an M5 400 hk from 100 km/h to 200 km/h.

Anyway, I did some acceleration timing tests before and after the box with a instrument called AP-22.

The first run was 70-110 km/h (40 mph - 70 mph) in third gear.
Before: 5,06 sec
After: 4,37 sec

The other run was 100-150km/h (60 mph - 90 mph) in fourth gear.
Before: 9,48 sec
After: 8,13 sec

And today on my way to work I had the chance to test it a bit and it felt much quicker than before. Next thing to check is the consumption

It takes a good 100km to really bed in and for the ecu to adapt.

I would also check the settings on the unit too, I actually moved the power jumper back Mine was three from the right with the rpm jumper two from the right, I moved this back to 3 or 4 from the right, so lower power, and the car seemed faster, maybe it is a balance between getting the most and over fueling??

I am now very happy with it, after a tankful the car feels alot more alive than before. At first I wasn't so sure, the improvement with the 163bhp engine seemed a lot better, but now this has beeded in I wouldn't want to go back to the car without it.

The other day there was an Audi Avant to the right of me pulling onto the motorway, we both floored it as the lights changed and we were both neck and neck up to about 90, at this point he started to pull away slightly, and then I backed off anyway due to the speed, I have to say that I was a bit gutted and started to wonder if I was actually getting 200+ bhp even??
Then as he crept passed I saw the badge on the back.....

3.0tdi

I had to have a little chcukle and I really wish I could have told him that I was in a 2.0 diesel.

So I reckon the Spider takes the 0-60mph time on my auto down from 8.3 to around 7.5 seconds.
I have an AP22, I must set it up and try it out.
What settings have you put in yours for the E92??

This sounds interesting..I don´t have any jumpers on mine??!! There was a paper in the box with some instructions about it. You have the 177hp version, haven´t you?! Maybe I´ve gotten the wrong box?
